Guys another point to consider. If your system definition is a MacPro6,x and youre running a iMac14,x serial number, it will eventually fail. Match your system definition to your CPU specs.

I know it's so much cooler to have about this mac say MacPro. If you need it that bad, then either:

* Change your MB, CPU to a socket 2011 system

or

* search on how to modify about this mac to whatever you want

Hi,evanhindra

The same thing happen to me , and i didn't find a solution, the only way that a know fix it is by changing the last alphanumerics five digits of the MLB, it will ask you to call Apple again, if you can fix it by other means , let me know.

Had the exact same issue, this is what fixed it, the MLB is a blacklisted one.

Following and entrusting jaymonkey's guide explicitly... I finally have working Clover-10.10-Messages functionality. I cannot (as many members have expressed) emphasize the importance of going thru this guide completely, take your time, but do not miss any of the important steps. After 7 days of effort and more reading and digging into Clover's awesome complexities, what finally got me from the "problem with activation" message to "call the support line-and mention the code" was injecting new MLB and ROM values. I had to execute this 3 times before I was given a reference code. Upon verifying that my serial # was indeed unique, I called Apple, spoke to a rep.. he put me on hold for 5 minutes, asked me for my serial #.. then the support code #.. followed by apple id.. 3 security questions that were associated with that ID.. another 2 minute hold..rep returned with "send a message to your iMac from your iPhone" (which is registered under my support profile).. I complied with his request.. and "voila" my system received the text..He was pleased I was up and running.. and so was yours truly. I'm into my 3rd day of uninterrupted Messages funtionality. JayMonkey.. thank you!

I reset both by MLB and ROM to get the "Call Apple support message" We will see if this gets me setup again.

@Fl0r!an,

You don't make it clear in your post which osx version your running ..... as iMessage has been running i assume your still running mavericks ? ....... iMessage will only work with Clover when running Yosemite ....

Do you have any other hacks using iMessage on your network ? if so are they all ok ... ?, it also possible you may have a mixed up OSX S/N in relation to your system type, this seems to be a new check that Apple may have recently implemented - Step 3 in Part 1 of the guide has been updated with this new information.

Thanks for your help!

Yep, I'm still on Mavericks, because I wanted to avoid iMessage problems...
I don't have any other hacks on my network and my S/N seems to be fine according to your guide... BUT my hack is configured as Mac Pro 3,1. I think I'll update to a more recent system definition with 12 character S/N, maybe this'll help...

Clover and I are in a love hate battle. I have three systems that I just converted from Chameleon to Clover. The first two had UEFI capabilities and were a breeze to change over, but the X58 system is frustrating me. My main problem is a ROM of all zeros:

4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14:ROM: <00000000 00000000 00000000 00>

I'm using the MacPro3,1 definition (though I tried MacPro4,1 and iMac 10,1 to no avail). The appropriate Serial Number, SmUUID (generated with uuidgen) and a MLB and ROM are set within Clover. All values with the exception of the ROM are shown in imessage_debug to be just as set. I don't want to call Apple until all three machines have consistent values and I suspect that the ROM of 0's is not going to work even though it is consistent as zeros.

The second problem is my GTX770 cards and a Cinema Display using DP and the Clover boot. All had been been working well with a Chameleon/MultiBeast boot, but now even though the graphics cards are being recognized the monitor is not and I get a black screen upon boot. I can only see the desktop through screen sharing from another machine. I've swapped in my old ATI 6870 card for now which works fine with the display under Clover.

Planned steps and thoughts:
I'm still running BIOS FF on the GA-X58A-UD3R mb, so I'm planning to upgrade to the newest (FH), but I don't hold out much hope for that fixing anything. I'm also considering just scraping the X58 board and upgrading to one with UEFI, but I'd like to forgo the expense of that if possible, for the current system is adequate for my needs if only iMessage and FaceTime would work.

UPDATE:

Amazingly the BIOS update to FH ( or perhaps the resetting to "optimal settings" and reconfiguring) resolved the 0's in the ROM value. The imessage_debug now displays the value set by Clover. It is too late to do much more, but tomorrow I shall swap in one of the GTX770 cards to see if I can get it to output to display port. Regardless it looks like I'm ready to call Apple with the customer code to get iMessage working again.

Hey BadBascuit, Did you ever get iMessage to work on you X58 Build? If you if so. What system profile did you use?

Hi Everyone,

Just looking for some help. I've followed the guide closely and was able to accomplish the following:

Got clover installed on my rather old build (GA-X58A-UD3R)
Got a UUID with "uuidgen" command. (used the command several times to ensure it was a unique UUId)
Got corresponding MLB and ROM values
MLB and ROM are consitent through boots.
en0 is the right interface.
Clover has the ticked FixLAN option.

Yet I still cant get past the activation error.

I am afraid my system definiton is playing against me.

I've used MacPro 4,1; 5,1; iMac 12,1; 13,1 and still have no success. Each time I tried the new system profile code I re did all values (UUID, MLB, ROM, Serial) Still nothing. It seems that MacPro 4,1 and 5,1 are the the only macs that came with X58 chips but still no success.

Any tips or ideas?

I am currently having many problems trying to get iMessage to work on my Hackintosh. My system is the first attachment below and the rest of the Clover Configuration is below that. I have tried so many different serials it's not even funny. I still haven't figured out the "en0" thing yet and how to get it. I have tried removing the .plist that was mentioned in the Tonymac fix and I am still unsuccessful. What am I doing wrong? :banghead:

Your smbios pane show an empty MLB and smUUID. How do you inject those? Are your MLB and ROM values persistent? Do you get each field populated when you go to the rt variables pane? Are you running imessage debug to check if your values are persistent?

Have you fully read & understood this guide?
