Why is this not affecting ML? It's the same service, or is it not?

No, it's not. Under Yosemite there is Continuity and Handoff; especially the 1st, which allows you to send/receive normal SMS/phone calls on your Mac, is deeply related with iMessage services. It's pretty clear that there are some security and privacy considerations to be taken into account to have these services active. That's why Apple, ,most likely, has improved checking ...

It makes sense. Good point.

after a long think over couple of days I've decided to wipe OS X off all of my hackintoshes and sell them with no OS on eBay and buy myself a official mac

Not entirely sure what this has to do with iMessage, but it is nice that you have that option. You see, for people like myself, that really isn't one. The current offerings by Apple simply don't fit into my needs as a graphic designer/gamer.

For example, I can't stare at that super glossy iMac screen for hours, and I need the option to hook up multiple monitors/Wacom monitor. As a gamer, I need more control over my hardware so I can play modern games without issues. I can't rely on Apple to tell me what is best for my gaming experience.

Switching over to Hackintosh has given me the freedom to have the best of both worlds, and to create a computer that works for what I need, not adjusting my work for what the computer tells me I need. I like Apple products, and I want to continue using them, but they simply don't produce any hardware that suits my needs. I really hope that these issues like iMessage and such can get figured out because it will really suck if I have to choose what to do next.

I said I never wanted to go back to Windows, but if Apple leaves me with little to no choice, it will be a tough day for me.

you see i need iMessage and FaceTime and continuity to work which i can't seem to get it working and i know a lot of people are cloning the MLB and ROM from a genuine mac but i don't recommend doing that because it could end in tears like it did before with customer code so I've decided to go with a genuine mac and yeah iMessage is one of the hardest things to get working it use to work perfect for me but it doesn't no more so

You obviously know what you need best, and I'm not one to tell you otherwise, but when you say you "need" it to work, do you mean you need it to work because you rely on those features for your job, or you "need" it to work because you want it to work?

Because lets be honest, you can easily use third party software to achieve basically the same functionality. For me, iMessage/Facetime/Continuity is luxury functionality. I can just as easily put my iPad beside my PC and use those features. Where I can't compromise is iCloud. If that service stops working, it will create to many version issues with my computer, and I don't want to deal with that. Losing iCloud would cut off my calendar, bookmarks, and a lot of other things that would make my Hack kinda useless.

The reality is we use their free software, that they distribute with no kind of DRM, for purposes that are completely not intended by Apple, and with no profit to them. And by calling their customer support we are actually causing them a loss on this.

So its not really Apple leaving you with a choice (or lack their of), this is simply a result of your choices. If you expected anything more, then you expected to much.

I may use their free software, but I also make them a lot of money. My household has 1 MBP, 1 MBAir, 4 iPhones, 4 iPads, and hundreds of dollars in Apps, music, movies, TV, etc. I also have purchased Applecare for all those devices, and have only used it once.

The reason I say they leave me with no choice, is because Apple has chosen to create hardware that is either too rigid, or too expensive to be reasonable. I wanted to purchase a legit Apple computer last year, but nothing in their product line worked for me. The option was to drop Apple all together and go with another platform, try to make it work using a hybrid Windows/Mac/Android solution, or attempt to get a Hackintosh working.

I opted for the last option and so far it has been the right choice. The problem obviously is that every day I face the reality that my 100% working PC, will suddenly not. What is worse is the looming reality that there might not be a solution, making my Hackintosh useless.

At that point I really don't have a choice. I make my living through art, and if the tools available don't suit my needs, I need go with different tools. That is just my reality. I don't fault Apple for this, nor am I upset that they have decided on their current business model. I simply hope that these experts can find a working, and stable solution for these issues until my next upgrade cycle, at which point I can reevaluate the offerings by Apple.

17 bytes and 17 characters. Why would these differ? Can we be sure it's not related to the characters we're omitting?
