Hello here :)
I finally received my new ethernet card in replacement for my onboard ethernet who is dead.
I was worry about iMessage after the change, because of the new MAC address on the new ethernet card.
But all seems to works perfectly ^^ (I use Clover, and I don't change anything in my settings of SMBIOS)

Ok,

I just had Apple on the phone regarding the block for imessage and facetime

the operator asked for:

Mac Serial number: I told the operator that I was not in front of my Mac

she proceeded by asking

name
surname
Apple ID

then she asked for the 3 answers to the questions I chose when I first registerd my Apple ID.... boy this was in 2009, I couldn't remember all of them and only guessed one out of the three but she of course did not tell me which one

then she proceeded by asking me the first 6 digits of my credit card, the last four ones and the validity date of the said card.

Finally she asked for the mighty code which I gave.

She then said that she had some doubt and needed to double check something so she put me on hold for a minute and finally proceeded by removing the block.

I am not home to test but will report back when I am in front of my Hack.

Is there a way to retrieve the secret questions/answers used when setting up my ID?

I hereby confirm that both iMessage and FaceTime are both functional again.

Thanks Jay and Apple ;)

Does it make sense to buy a, e.g. broken Mac Mini to get a real S/N and then you have your own real, valid S/N once and for all?

So after spending an entire week trying to fix this I think I am about to give up. I have gone through this entire guide twice and nothing has fixed iMessage for me. I have a Z87N-Wifi that was suffering from SID bug. Everything checked out and then I called Apple and they took the block off for me and it worked for about a day. Now it has stopped working again. I have called Apple two more times because randomly I get a customer code when trying to log in. Apple says they see the block and they take it off for me but the contact names in Messages still appear in red. Like I said I have done every step in the guide twice, both parts 1 and 2 and nothing has fixed this for me. Also, FaceTime works after my initial call to Apple, and all other iCloud services work. Just can't seem to figure iMessage out.

I guess I jinxed myself! Launched iMessage today and all contacts are in red. I tried to log in and now get the "Customer Code" window... Guess I gotta call Apple.

iMessage was working fine for months, but last night I tried to sign into FaceTime for the first time and after I signed in and clicked on the "Next" tab it would sign me out. This is the first time I ever signed into FaceTime so I wonder if that triggered blocking iMessage.

Had the iMessage Registration with Code ####-####-#### and called AppleCare as their page says.

Got transferred 2x to the Mac Dept. Said I wasn't at my Mac and got this code, it worked fine last week - all true. Rep asked for account info, then fixed my account and it worked fine.

Annoying that it would suddenly break but I wonder if its due to the fix they just did as a result of the iCloud issues this week. Still great service regardless.

Hi I'm getting to call Apple support , i have an activation code for iMessage. What may i do??

Thanks!!

I had to all Apple on Tuesday, I would suggest you ask for iMessage support. The guy that helped me was in Mac support. I gave him my serial from the 'About this Mac', and told him it was not a real Mac. Not sure he understood that, but after he gave up entering the serial number he asked what the problem was. I told him that the iMessage server was blocking my computer from log ging in. Ten seconds later he said 'try it now', and it's back to working great.

So the short answer is, call Apple.

@homerunman106, @John V, @vashavoc,

If you get the alert to contact Apple with a customer code again even after having successfully contacting Apple once or twice before and getting them to remove the lockout then it's possible you still have issues with your MLB and/or ROM values being persistent. I've amended step 5d to highlight this issue. Please re-read step 5d and try again.

Update: Looks like the 77 & 87 WiFi series of Gigabyte ITX boards do suffer from the SId bug, both my H87N-WiFi & Z87N-WiFi systems have started having iMessage issues - I've updated Part 2 of the guide to cover these and added the to the list.

Cheers
Jay

Call to Apple from Russia resolve problem with iMessage on my hackintosh. I'm glad

I also have Gigabyte Z87N-WiFi but it does not suffer from the SId bug and iMessage is working fine, however i did re-flash the BIOS to the latest revision which is F6c. If you want to try it I've attached it below.

Cheers

Thanks very much for your response. I've checked my MLB and ROM values numerous times and they seem to match up with what you say in your guide. The only other question I have is for the ROM value, my en0 port doesn't work and I use the en1 port so do I inject the MAC address for en1 or en0?

Also since you have the same board I do, do both of your Ethernet ports work? If so, which kexts did you use? Thanks as always for the great guide and advice!
