iMessage and OSX 10.10 Yosemite
@All
I've just finished my initial testing of of the public release of OS X Yosemite and of course paid particular attention to iMessage.
In a nut shell, if you want to use iMessage on OS X 10.10 then your only option at the moment is to use Clover as your boot loader.
The BAD News
All current versions of FileNVRAM do not work with OS X 10.10, for those of you waiting for a new release of FileNVRAM ..... unless someone takes up the task of patching and plastering FileNVRAM (and Chameleon) to work with OS X 10.10 you may be in for a long wait .... Personally i doubt very much one will ever appear when Clover is clearly the answer, Maybe MacMan or Tony will take up the challenge but its not for me.
I Switched to using Clover a long time ago ... and thats the ...
Good News
If you already using Clover and have followed all the steps in my guide to resolve iMessage issues such as non persistent or invalid NVRAM values (MLB & ROM) the Sid bug, Correct System Type & OS X S/N .... etc then you should be good to go.
You can install OS X 10.10 right over Mavericks using the latest Unibeast 5 installer, boot into Yosemite using Unibeast again and run the latest multibeast to install Audio, Trim, Network .. etc. You will not lose any apps or data.
Reboot and boot via Clover .. Hello Yosemite - I was actually amazed at how well this worked as i was quite prepared to install from scratch but no need. This goes to show just how powerful and flexible Clover makes OS X. As a final test I ran iMessage Debug and sure enough all my ID's were the same as before i started the update.
Finally go-a-head and log into iCloud and then iMessage, it worked straight away for me, seems to work fine and have I not had any issues so far. I don't have IOS8 device only iPhone4 so can't test the SMS and Phone on MAC functions .. so i'd like to know if its working for any of you clover users with iPhone 6 .. etc
For those not running Clover ... you know what needs to be done, i've been saying for a longtime so i'm not going to say it again. What i would suggest is that those of you with Sid bug and non persistent ID's ... go back to OS X 10.9.X and get it working with Clover first. All the Clover tips in the guide are applicable to OS X 10.10. That way your only dealing with one set of issues at a time. If your not using a patched DSDT then you may have to play a lot more with the Clover auto DSDT options, if your already using a DSDT (& SSDT) then just use those and disable all of Clover's auto DSDT options.
Once you get your system booting correctly with Clover make another backup then update to OS X 10.10
I'll be adding the above into the guide soon along with any further tips i come across
Good Luck
Cheers
