The Perfect Customac-Pro: X99-A II, i7-6950X, 128GB G.Skill TridentZ, Aorus GTX 1080 TI Xtreme

Hi to all!
I have ASUS X99-E WS USB3.1 Mobo with i7-6900K (Broadwell-E) ASUS GTX 1080Ti
I followed exactly guide but get panic immediately after pass Clover. Could not get to the installer.
I use Sierra 10.12.5
Can please someone assist to point me?

[SOLVED Partially]
The issue for me was fix - xcpm_bootstrap Sierra © Pike R. Alpha
If I disable this fix, I've get panic. With fix - it's ok.
But for now I can't unlock xcpm
No matter how hard I tried, I always get "sysctl machdep.xcpm.mode" "0"
I've patched BIOS using Guide but BIOS Flash utility do not accept file - wrong BIOS file.
Can it be issue for XCPM in my case?

And the second issue is that I can't boot without cpus=1 or VoodooTSCSync.
So, no cpus=1 and no VoodooTSCSync = panic
With VoodooTSCSync 8 cores - system is loading
With cpus=1 - system is loading

I am confused for now =(

1.) Sorry for my delayed response. I was busy with 10.13 the last days.... xcpm_bootstrap in my case disables XCPM and with xcpm_bootstrap, I always get "sysctl machdep.xcpm.mode" "0" ! I had to remove xcpm_bootstrap to make XCPM work! I do not understand why you get panic without xcpm_bootstrap. This should definitely not be the case. Something else must be wrong.

2.) Search for the correct BIOS FLASHBACK Utility file convention for your board. Without the correct naming the flashing will not work! The correct naming seems to be X99EU31.CAP !

3.) I have never heard about any cpus issue. This issue popped up with you and @saxmand. Both of you must do something wrong! You cannot use cpus=1 to boot your system disk! This means you would use just one core of your CPU. Check the BIOS settings or what ever, to loose your personal knot in this issue!

Yes, unlocked.
I think I might just have to accept that there's gonna be no Power Management for now. The rest work quite good :)

Sorry for my delayed response. I was busy with 10.13 the last days....

Do you use the Mac Pro 6.1 system definition now? As I told you it is mandatory to successfully run XCPM!

Thank you kgp!
ok, now thing getting more or less clear.
The main issue was that I flashed locked latest bios to MB - 3502
After that I patched it as per guide and tried to reFlash it using hardware button, but still get MSR 0xE2 - locked.
Then I've patched BIOS - 3302 and refresh it. And now I get MSR 0xE2 unlock. And only after that - everything else go more or less fine with the guide. So, there is absolutely NO point of trying to continue CPU management without patched BIOS on ASUS MoBo.
After that, I was able to turn off xcpm_bootstrap Sierra © Pike R. Alpha and now I have xcpm returns 1
Everything else goes as expected except CPU graphs.
Without EIST I have higher frequencies (saw graph with Geekbech aside) but bad idle, more that 2Ghz
With EIST (and all BIOS setting as per guide) and PMDrvr.kext I have good idles but Lower high frequencies (saw graph with Geekbech aside)
I use iMac17.1 vectors.
There is no flatlines or "hills" at all!
What am I missing guys?

Can you please suggest what to do for those mystery fixes?
I tested a 5-6 different configs with and without fixes with EIST and without but it seems that I was unable to find a proper one for flatlines and good idle.
Can you share your config with patches or just screenshots?

1.) Seems your XCPM is still not properly working..
a.) What about checks 9.a, 9.b, 9.c, and 12. of my XCPM guide????
b.) Do you use the adequate KernelToPatch entries for your CPU?
c.) Do you use the appropriate FakeCPUID for your CPU?
d.) Do you use the MacPro 6.1 System definition?
e.) etc....
f.) As long XCPM is not working properly forget about EIST and PMDrvr.kext! For now remove PMDrvr.kext and disable EIST in your mobo BIOS!

2.) Your statement that there is absolutely NO point of trying to continue CPU management without patched BIOS on ASUS MoBo is total nonsense!
a.) The unlocked BIOS is not necessary to make XCPM work. There is a work around with xcpm_idle-patch!
b.) Only ASUS mobos have the locked MSR 0xE2 register! There is no need to patch e.g. Gigabyte or ASRock mobos!
c.) XCPM does not depend on the mobo! It works fine on all X99 mobos!

Cheers,

KGP

Perfect! Everything looks fine.. XCPM is fully functional on your system!

One question: the snapshot of the Intel Power Gadget graph you showed in the previous post was taken after subsequent CPU idle and load conditions?

To do so you should e.g. run the system in idle, the start e.g. the cinebench benchmark, run again the system in idle, run again the cinebench benchmark, etc.

Looks also as expected! Everything fine! Take the snapshot after subsequent CPU idle and load conditions as stated above...

Do you have any idea why I have this? No cores reading?

Code:
 MSR_CORE_THREAD_COUNT............(0x35) : 0x0

No core reading? Compare you AppleInfoKext output with mine to know if things at your side work correctly.

By thw way, do you still use cpus=1?
