Hey Shilohh,

Yep, my motheboard is "Rampage IV Gene". I used the files for R4BE.

Should I use files for R4E instead?
Yes. That is definitely a problem. I made a note at the top of the OP "Updated to work with the Rampage IV Black Edition because the R4E has limited availability now. Users of other Asus X79 boards except for the X79D, can try the R4E files but no guarantees for now."

You should be able to overwrite your files in EFI with the R4E ones. Use all the SSDTs

Combo updates are a combination of all the changes in every update since the major release (10.10.0, 10.11.0, 10.12.0 etc) and are a more complete way to update. They are usually not available for the first delta release (10.12.1). Delta updates can only run sequentially on the previous version (10.12.4 delta can only update from 10.12.3) and combo updates can update any version from the major release (10.12.4 combo can be used on any version from 10.12.0).

You'll need to go to support.apple.com and enter combo in the search box. Scroll down to see all the results. Click on the version you are looking for. Download the .dmg from the link on the page. Double click the dmg when the download finishes. Double click the installer .pkg when the dmg mounts and opens in the finder. Let the installer run and restart the computer and finish running again. When running updates, if the computer reboots and the update doesn't continue or finish (is still on the same macOS version like the update was never run), restart holding the control key or space bar to reach the clover GUI and look for a new boot drive option there with "install from" in the name. This is the bootable image that the installer created that contains all the install files. Select that option and the install will complete.

Thanks a million Shilohh. This is excellent and given me great peace of mind. Brilliant help as always. Enjoy your Sunday. :)

Hey Shilohh,

This time I used files for R4E and after the installation/first restart got a black screen again. However this time when I used nv_disable=1 to troubleshoot mu mouse and keyboard worked. So I downloaded "AGDPfix.app" and ran it - the screen isn't streched anymore + my GPU is recognized in "About This Mac".

Not sure why am I getting black screen. I used "SSDT-2.aml" from "Nvidia Kepler (4port) HDMI GPU SSDT" folder, which corresponds to the second PCI slot on my motherboard where my GPU is installed. I have GTX760.

Is this a good, permanent, solution (running AGDPfix.app)? I've read that after each system update I will need to run it again... is there a solution to avoid repeating that?

Thank you

Please post a IOReg from ioregistryexplorer. Your board is different than the ones I wrote this guide for.

Thanks a million shilohh. Your guide is amazing. Just installed 10.12.1 on my P9X79 ws, i7 3930K, following your original guide only adding the USB3 fix. Everything working straight away; iMessage, Siri ect.
Native updated to 10.12.4, no problems at all :) Never had such an easy stable hack, all thanks to this amazing community.

Was wondering, I'm using a lot of screens in my work. I'm currently squeezing 3x1080p and a 1x4K monitor from a Geforce GTX 670 card. Running round 8 meter cables. It's rather stable. But I would like to expand with 1-2 monitors more.
Any recommendation for graphiccards that supports a lot of screens? Does duel GPU's make sense?
It doesn't have to be super high performance, since I don't do gaming.

Best, and thanks again!

Hi, I recently had another user with the p9x79 e ws and it seemed like the plx chip for the pci slots was overriding the the ssdt for the graphics card in slot 1. This ssdt solves issues with black screen after boot.

Did you have to use another solution to get around the black screen issue? Also, which usb3 fix are you referring to?

I use 2 GPUs but I'd want to make sure we can use a ssdt to rename your 2nd gpu with your mother board. Patching the AGDP kext works too but I'm curious. Can you please post a ioreg.

I didn't have any black screen issues. Probably because my graphic card is natively supported.

Also, which usb3 fix are you referring to?
The fix you mentioned under bugs as nr. 4 made by RehabMan!. But just checking it again, I actually don't think they are running as USB3, but the ports just got enabled for usage...

I still only have one graphiccard. Planing to maybe buy a used gtx670 since it has worked well and I can get it for under 70 dollars. And what I read you get the least problems of running two simultaneous cards...
So I guess your request about an ioreg doesn't apply jet? I just exported the registry from IORegistryExplore anyway. It's attached.

Ah after looking at your IOReg, I see the your board is different than his. There is a p9x79-e ws and a p9x79 ws which you have. SSDTs are working as expected on your board.

They are probably just reporting wrong. You can test the speed with Black Magic Disk Speed test and a SSD connected to a USB3 adapter (USB3 Flash drives usually aren't fast enough to show the ports full speed capabilities). Either way, I've found that the on board asmedia chips are pretty buggy and have abandoned them.

Just add the appropriate SSDT for the slot you put it in and a 2nd GPU will probably work just fine

Hope I saved it right, opened ioregistryexplorer and then File/Save As...

IOReg is in the attachment.

Thanks
