[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@zipb

Please try a 32GB or 64GB flash drive. No guarantees this will work, but I really don’t know what else to suggest.
Thanks for getting back to me. I also tried an empty SATA SSD(plenty of space there) for the install. doesn't work either.
Meanwhile, Windows boots and works great.

For the long boot time issue please run Terminal and type:
Bash:
log show --last boot | grep "trims took"
Then post the output.

Code:
2023-07-03 16:11:27.927738+0200 0x1ff Default 0x0 0 0 kernel: (apfs) spaceman_scan_free_blocks:3356: disk5 scan took 8.745970 s, trims took 8.059842 s

2023-07-03 16:16:18.938212+0200 0x2831 Default 0x0 0 0 kernel: (apfs) spaceman_scan_free_blocks:3356: disk9 scan took 2.067133 s, trims took 1.912048 s

Will try the other things too. Thanks!

For the various Bluetooth/WiFi issues try the following:
  • Perform cold boot (shutdown and flip power switch on PSU to OFF for 10 seconds, then power up)
  • Reset NVRAM (press spacebar at OpenCore boot picker to reveal this option)
If these steps don't help, try a CMOS Reset and configure BIOS parameters afterwards.

Tried all these things with no success/change unfortunately. And the drive in the second M.2 slot is still not showing. I also tried removing it completely and it did not help with the boot duration.

For a lazy man's fix, is there a newer/better Wifi/BT card I can just buy and try? :D

Or, any use to try this? https://github.com/acidanthera/AirportBrcmFixup

Which WiFi/BT card do you have now?

Are there any SATA drives installed inside the system?

There's someone else that may be having similar issues, although they have a Z490 Vision D. We can follow the drama starting here:

I am able to use their EFI folder without any issue, but they are not...

And yes, I have three SATA drives installed. All Samsung. One is my Windows 10 Boot drive.

And btw, the Samsung NVME show up under NVMExpress in System Information, but not in Disk Utility.

Is the Fenvi FV-T919 available in your region?

Have you seen SATA Port Limitations in Post 1 of this thread?

Alright, thanks for this. All my Sata drives show up though. It's the M2P drive that isn't showing. As far as I understand the chart shows how the Sata ports will be disabled, not the M.2 ports? The M2P drive shows up and works in Windows.

I have a dumb question: Given that my AMD RX-580 is a Polaris card, can I/should I omit the "agdpmod=pikera" boot argument, but include the shikigva=80 (etc)?
