What kind of cable are you using to connect to your monitor?

Text editor is fine but you must maintain the correct syntax. As a coder I am used to maintaining a syntax like what is used in a plist file.

Other editors would be plist edit pro or Xcode.

I have both of those editors. Knowing how to use them is another story. Do you have any tips on how to add the info to the config.plist in plist edit pro?

Hello fellow hackers,

I'm having an issue with my video card on my build where the screens are black. I have confirmed that the computer is on and running by remoting into it.
My build is as follows:

  • Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z170-HD3
  • CPU: Intel i5 6600
  • Graphic Card: MSI GTX970 4G
  • RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix
I have tried everything in this thread that seemed like it would be relevant, but to no avail. I've verified that I'm editing the config.plist in EFI/EFI/CLOVER/, nvda_drv=1, Inject/NVIDIA/False nor am I injecting any other drivers, I've tried using HDMI as well as DVI ports (although not DP because my monitors don't have DP) I've edited my config.plist for the AGDP.kext, I've tried various systems types (17.1, 14.2, 3.1), I've added the most up-to-date kexts to S/L/E and rebuild the kernel cache.

Something that might be worth noting is my board does not have NVRAM, and doesn't seem to hold on to the boot-args when I do
sudo nvram boot-args then reboot.
Additionally, running
sudo kextstat | grep nv returns:
94 2 0xffffff7f8115c000 0x2e0000 0x2e0000 com.nvidia.web.NVDAResmanWeb (10.1.1) 5C094812-86E1-35B5-9B9F-AFD29D97CEC3 <93 90 76 12 7 5 4 3 1>

I've attached some screen shots and my config.plist file in hopes that someone out there can point me in the right direction, because I am currently at a loss.

Thank you all for your time.

How are you connected to your screens? Also, what kind of screens are they, 1080P, 1440P or 4K+?

Have you tried using Shilohh's AGDP fix? The link to it is in the first post.

I am connected to my monitors via HDMI and DVI. I have tried both individually, as well as disconnecting and reconnecting them. I would try DP, but my monitors do not have DP.

The monitors are 1080p. (ASUS VS247H-P)

I have tried Shilohh's AGDP fix, however it is telling me that I have SIP enabled. So I opted for Method 1.
Just rebooted set BooterConfig set to 0x28 and CsrActiveConfig set to 0x64 (was previously 0x3) and I have the same results.
I decided to try Method 3, and just realized I don't have a AppleGraphicsControl.kext.

I copied that over from my genuine Mac, rebuilt the kext cache, uninstalled and reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers, and rebooted with the nvda_drv=1 flag. I have a single screen now that is software rendering (2nd monitor is still black), and the computer is recognizing my GPU as a generic NVIDIA card. (See attached screen shot.)

Edit for clarity: 2nd monitor is still black.

Can you boot to your Recovery HD using nv_disable=1?
