Darn... I'm not gunna get this build finished before Christmas... :( I'm just wondering if anyone here knows how to correctly install osx mavericks using a modded boot file on an intel i7-4820k processor system. My specs are in my profile.

I'm in the same boat as you, I saw your video and you were having the exact same problems I was having (except I have slightly different specs, they are in my signature). It's nice to know that someone else is having the same problem as I am. I just hope that someone can help us both out in getting Ivy-Bridge CPU's to work :(

So someone posted on a different thread that I could try and replace the Kernel file with a modded one. I used the one from here---http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/163-109-ivy-bridge-e-atom-lapic-fix-kernel/

So I followed the instructions on that InsanelyMac guide to the best of my ability, but I got different results then you did, Leumas1311.

I got this instead:
problem.jpg

Immediately after that I got a black screen for 2 seconds then it flashed to a never ending white screen with no logo at all. The strange thing was that when I got this white screen, I let it sit for a while then I thought "This isn't doing anything" and tried to turn it off using the power button on my case, but it wasn't turning off. I had to hold down the power button on my case for about 3-4 seconds before it shut off. I don't know if that is a big deal, but I thought I'd note it.

Here's the boot flags in my org.chameleon.Boot.plist:
<key>Boot Banner</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Instant Menu</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>IGPEnabler</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string> -v -f cpus=1 npci=0x2000 darkwake=0 PCIRootUID=0 </string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>No</string>

Any help? Thanks

Has anyone managed to install Mavericks using the 4820k?
There instructions using Clover where deleted because of other language usage besides English and I can't find them anywhere.

UPDATE:
I've managed to start install but it hangs there.
I've used match_kernel provided here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/163-109-ivy-bridge-e-atom-lapic-fix-kernel/
I've booted from USB 2.0
With -v -f GraphicsEnabler=Yes npci=0x3000 darkwake=0

Booting from Mavericks Install USB is very slowly using the above flags.
I've tried both 0x2000 and 0x3000 and no result.

ACPI Power Management prompts that the CPU is unknown and unsupported but it continues booting

My Specs:
P9X79 PRO Bios 4502
4820k @ stock
480gtx
840 evo ssd

ok, have you actually gotten it to boot? Or does it stick in the boot up process?

It boots, that's not the problem.
After it boots (extremely slow) the cursor appears and that's all
I've waited for 30min+ on that exact screen and nothing changes.

May i ask what the cursor was? Was it the spinning ball or the arrow?

The setup process works but extremely slow.. and the cursor is choppy, it hangs, works like hell.
After 20min+ you can see the installer wizard.

Man, I have been waiting for a straightforward guide like this. I built a gigabyte 4770k because I couldn't get my P9X79 Pro to work at all. I'm going to give it another try with this new guide. Crossing my fingers...

So, after a pile load of time, I've managed to bootup my already installed Mavericks (used on my X58 board, P6T Deluxe) on my new config.

Steps used for achieving this:

  1. replace (and backup the current kernel) with the new match_kernel and make sure that NullCPUPowerManagement is in /System/Library/Extensions
  2. Check if exists and remove /Extra/modules/KernelPatcher.dylib
  3. Try a -v -f npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=Yes (if that applies and you've got an old GPU)
    1. If it boots without Kernel Panic, thats good, you can proceed to step 4.
    2. If it generates KP, remove the app that does this (Kaspersky Antivirus in my case)
    3. (OPT) I've installed EvOreboot via Multibeast (just in case)
    4. (OPT) I've installed drivers needed for the new setup (p9x79pro, 4820k)
  4. Run Kext Utility and let it finish.
  5. (OPT) I've updated chameleon using Chameleon Wizard.app
  6. After doing this, reboot and hope for the best :)

During this process the computer will respond sluggish (the cursor, the user interface, etc.. or at least it did in my case)

I've provided the /Extra folder content + used match_kernell in the zip files.

Working so far:
  • video
  • sound
  • network
  • usb 3.0 works OK now.. just re-ran kext utility and restarted
  • Intel Vd-T (VMware Fusion works OK)

Sound works, BUT doesn't get full support. It's fine by me, I'm using optical out with my receiver.
CPU States won't work. It will remaing at top speed, 3.7GHz all around (turbo also doesn't work)

Ok, I have a similar system as you and I tried your guide. After following the instructions to the letter I get this screen and then it loads into a white screen that stayed solid for 30+mins. What do i do? Btw I am doing a fresh install.
