I have been experiencing random reboots. Sometimes it will happen 30 min post-boot sometimes 2-3 hours. I posted the error report for reference. Ive tried everything short of a new install. If anyone has any insight into this problem it would be greatly appreciated. :banghead:

As I did have trouble with W8 in the first place, here my 2 cents.
Very short: you must install the x64 version of windows in "uefi mode" to "use" it in clover.

1) Make an UEFI USB boot stick under Windows
insert USB stick :)
start 'diskpart.exe' and then type
list disk
select disk 5 (--> for '5' please use the number of your USB stick from the 'list' command)
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format quick fs=fat32
assign
exit

2. copy the content of your windows 8.x x64 ISO to the USB stick
xcopy x:\* y:\ /s /e (--> please set 'x' for 'this is wher your ISO content is' and 'y' to your USB stick)

In case the install.wim file you are using is bigger then 4GB (mine now contains updates) and the xcopy command is not working, here is how you can proceed. Note: this is only working under windows >= v8!
md c:\temp\wim
cd c:\temp\wim
robocopy x:\sources c:\temp\wim install.wim
dism /Split-Image /ImageFile:c:\temp\wim\install.wim /SWMFile:c:\temp\wim\install.swm /FileSize:2500
del c:\temp\wim\install.wim
robocopy x:\ y:\ /e /s /R:0
robocopy c:\temp\wim\ y:\sources\

3. set all bios settings as told in post #1 this ensures you will boot in UEFI mode

4. Use the USB stick you just created to make a fresh install of windows to a separat, clean drive

You should now be able to choose windows in clover

I try 2 way to dual boot in windows 7

1. I use old hdd that I have installed windows 7 of this machine and work perfects (before I hack this to clover OS X), when I press hold down space bar to clover gui I see 2 disk partition in clover gui, first one should be system reserve(HD1) and second I think windows 7 os(HD2). I tried with all partition, the screen just show me windows logo on black screen.

2. fresh install follow this guide and tak21 guide also. When I press win7 usb bootable in clover gui the screen just show me windows logo on black screen

can someone explain in depth for dual boot.

Thank (sorry for my bad english)

@shilohh

I'm very happy to have found this post!

With my latest projects/jobs I was having the real need for Pro Res and windows made me suffer. I'm new to this hackintosh business and just read the last few hours about it. I have a very similar setup to yours though:

4930k
GTX 770
ASUS P9X79 (non Pro, Deluxe, Rampage etc.)
G.Skill RipJaws (non Z) 2133mhz.
Corsair H110i
Coolermaster v850
4 x 3 TB WD RED (inteded for a internal RAID 0)
256 GB EVO SSD (OS)

Do you think following your steps with my slightly differing setup will be a no brainer?

My second question is: is it even possible to run a motherboard driven RAID 0 on a hackintosh?

I would appreciate your expertise :) I want/need Pro Res back so badly...

UPDATE:

During step 10 the reboot stops halfway and I don't know why.

Thing that could have gone wrong:

Step 8) I first installed Clover withe the wrong settings, and then reinstalled...

Step 9) In Multibeast I didn't have the "Optional EFi Installed..." Option

Step 10) While pressing F4 should I see something happening on the screen? Cause I don't...

Or are my specs the problem? See post just above!

Thanks for the support. I hope I'll get this to work...

Cheers

UPDATE2:

I tried the whole thing from the top...again without succes at step 10! This time thought my graphics were a little funky and slow beforehand (it was very laggy before step 10)! At step 10) when OS X was rebooting the monitor lost its connection halfway through and didn't come back...

I'm no expert; so please someone help me!!!

Hey guys,
I just wanted to post my experiences with adding a second GPU to the setup. I'm pretty new in the hackintosh community, but this thread helped me big time to get going. Thanks a lot shilohh for your effort and the great guide.

Since I couldn't find easy to understand instructions (at least not bundled in one place) here on how to add a second GPU I wanted to write a quick roundup of what I did to maybe help others who want to do the same. I apologise in advance if this is something completely obvious :)

I have pretty much the same specs as describe in the guide, I'm running a EVGA NVidia GTX980 and wanted to add an additional GTX980Ti. I made sure that my NVIDIA Web Drivers and the CUDA driver were up to date. After installing the additional GPU on my mainboard I turned on my machine and it crashed immediately at the OSX boot screen. I was a bit desperate again, but some searching through this thread helped me.

What I did was to remove the new card, delete my DSDT.aml from the EFI partition, put the second GPU in again, boot (now it worked) and follow the DSDT-Guide (http://www.tonymacx86.com/dsdt/1144...ide-create-your-dsdt-5-min-using-maciasl.html) again.

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 18.59.08.png

The 980Ti shows up as NVIDIA Graphics Device, but is fully operational. Speeding up my Octane renders about 100% as expected. I was a bit worried as well if my 760W PSU was enough to power those two cards rendering full throttle, but no problems.

I hope this might help somebody who is running into problems, and sorry again if this is something absolutely obvious and I was just to dumb to realise :)

Thanks again shilohh, I'm very glad that I decided to go the hackintosh route and you've been my guide all along :)

Oh man! I work a lot with Vue 10 xStream. I would be happy to have this configuration! But I think it is almost to late to find a Rampage IV. Although I have a Samsung EVO 1TB already ;) And the things that makes it not even more easy: I stay in Thailand.

Sounds like the DSDT patch lists are not compatable with your p9x79. Plug in your USB installer and start the system holding down the f8 key to reach the boot disc override dialog. Choose the Mac OS boot drive/SSD. When the system starts use mount any efi to mount the Mac OS boot drive's EFI partition and delete DSDT.aml from EFI/CLOVER/acpi/patched. Eject the USB installer and restart

Croink,

We have nearly identical setups. I currently have dual GTX 780's in SLI. I am getting ready to move to the GTX 980 TI.

Do you have your machine set as Mac Pro 5,1 or 6,1?

Did you have to patch the Kext for the GTX 980 TI to work correctly or just run the AGPDfix?

I want to upgrade my video but am worried about screwing up a functional hack!

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks,

Brad
