Here we go, the tool is not working flawlessly but I think it did the job.

Current issue is the battery status, it does not update the battery level, I have to turn off "show percentage" and turn it on again to update the reading. Other than that I think everything is OK.

Your version of ACPIBatteryManager.kext is too old.

Also, NVMe+APFS is generally a mistake. You should have installed on HFS+J instead:

Also, config.plist/SystemParameters/InjectKexts should be set "Detect".

Thanks a lot!

Regarding APFS, I imagine re-install is the preferred option but to set up the machine again from the scratch is quite time consuming - would it work to backup the whole disk with CCC, reformat and restore?

I have not personally used CCC, but from what I hear, it works as a method to go from APFS->HFS+J.

I have it on all my Macs, it works great but I never tried it for this use case. I guess dd would work too for a 1:1 copy, but that's off topic now. Thanks!

dd will not do what you want it to do (it would clone APFS->APFS).

Note that 'dd' is a very inefficient way of doing a clone, as it will also copy unused blocks... not recommended for SSDs as it causes a lot of unnecessary writes to the device, especially if the SSD is not close to full capacity.

So at the end of the day it was APFS hindering the battery status to work as expected. Also the boot process lightning fast.

NVMe and APFS is a no go!

And your ioreg now shows current version ACPIBatteryManager.kext.

CCC did a great job, btw. the only issue was it didn't manage to create the recovery partition which I don't really need as I have a full and working backup now. I was not aware that MacOS would boot from external drive, I know Windows will not. At the end all god - thanks for your support!

Why do you say NVME+APFS is a mistake?

I used this guide for my XPS 9560, I'm very happy with the install since I've gotten mostly everything working. I'm planning to re-install to upgrade my SSD to a 960 Pro + more storage. I'm curious to know the reasoning behind NVME+APFS is a mistake since I thought Apple uses NVME + APFS in their machines.

Many known problems with APFS with TRIM enabled. NVMe implies TRIM, not possible to disable it.
