Hi guys, second post that I'm making, no one seem capable of helping me with this.

I have an R9 Fury, I'm on Monterey, latest OpenCore release. i5-12400F.

Everything works really good execept for HW acceleration.

What should I do? Thank you for your patience.

Try removing agdpmod=pikera boot argument, as your R9 Fury GPU doesn't need that entry. This boot argument is only required for Navi 10 & Navi 21 AMD GPU's, i.e. RX5000 & RX6000 series of graphics cards.

I'm not sure if you need the -radcodec boot argument either. As you are not using a Spoofed PID.

Have you tried booting the system with these two boot arguments removed/deleted from the config.plist?

Thank you for your answer.

Yes, I already tried booting with those arguments removed, in fact I added them while trying to make HW acceleration to work.

As you already pointed out they do nothing.

Questions:
  1. Which display-out connector are you using on the R9 Fury?
  2. Which display-in connector are you using on your display?
  3. Which display (make & Model) are you using?
  4. Which type of cable are you using?
  5. Are you using any adapters or adapter cables?
For future reference, if you try a boot argument and it doesn't work, remove it from your config.plist. As all it will do if left in place is cause confusion and lead people trying to help you down the wrong path. Wasting their and your time with unnecessary posts.

I’m using a display port cable both out and in, no adapters.

My monitor is a Samsung 4K 60Hz, model U28E570.

Ok, thank you for the advice about the boot arguments.

Hi there.

Another thing to check is the Device-ID of your R9 Fury. I believe it should be 1002:7300.

I imagine it is but if not you can spoof it. The Apple official driver is in the AMD9000Controller.kext. This isn't included in Ventura, but I am currently unable to check Monterey from here ...

:)

The Device ID 0x73001002 is present in the AMD9000Controller.kext in Monterey.

Screenshot below confirms this, ID is located second from the end of the highlighted line.

That Device ID 0x73001002 should work for both the R9 Fury and the R9 Fury X GPU.

Hi @UtterDisbelief , yes the driver is there and the ID is correct, as already shown by @Edhawk .

This is really a mystery, I've been looking for an answer for months but no one has any idea where the problem is, the GPU is fully supported and the drivers are there.

Which if any fixes have you tried while looking to fix this issue?
Have you removed the unsuccessful fixes you applied?

Post a copy of your whole EFI folder, so we can see exactly what you are using.

Just remember to delete/redact the serial number from your config.plist before you post a copy here.

I tried changing my SMBIOS from iMacPro1,1 to MacPro7,1.
I tried with the -radcoded and agdpmod=pikera.
I tried adding different shikigva values.
I also tried spoofing my GPU.

I removed the unsuccessful fixes.

Sadly I didn't find much on the web, is really uncommon that a supported GPU is lacking HW acceleration.

Here is my EFI.

Thank you for the time you are spending helping me, I really appreciate it.
