10.8.3: AMD Radeon HD 7xxx Graphics Testing Thread

That's supposed to happen, don't worry.
Since you set the integrated card as your primary card, nothing shows up because it's trying to display an image on something connected to your integrated card. Since you don't have anything connected to your integrated card, there's nowhere for anything to, well, show up until your system boots and finds the Radeon. :thumbup:

Got the XFX 7950 working. Attached is the benchmark. I finally got it working after disabling graphic injection in clover. Hope this helps anyone.

Awesome, Does anybody want to send me the link to the benchmarking software? also my DZ77GA-70k Wont stay off or sleep and those ar ethe only 2 problems I have till 100% success. If I can jsut get it to stay shut down Ill be perfectly content. Anybody know of how I can do this?

@xmowax
Check your PMs, this is a known issue and isn't related to the HD 7000 series.

I will try after my backup. So much work has gone into this that I would hate to lose LOL. I will try immediately after. I cant PM you back yet (50 post requirement) but we should definately stay in touch if we have similar builds.

Oh right, I forgot about that requirement.
In that case, click the first link in my signature. Our boards are similar (i.e. the exact same minus thunderbolt), so it's fair game for that thread and we can stop filling up this one. :thumbup:

I have the HIS IceQX2 7970 and cant get it to work.. i have a gigabyte board and hd4000 and tried init display =IGFX and internal graphics = DISABLED but when i try to boot i get boot0 with a bunch of gibberish.. i tried booting with a mbr usb stick and and a screen about memory allocation comes up.. i also tried graphicsenabler=no with no success.. is it possible that this card isnt supported?

ok after reading the whole thread instead of just skimming through i see that for some reason even after setting hd4000 as primary the system keeps trying to boot with the 7970.. and i noticed while going back into the bios the settings were the defaults instead of what i changed it to even though i saved.. i have no idea what to do lol

Hey Guys,

I have just about everything working perfectly well except the boot problem, I have tried the clover booloader trick, by setting the primary graphics to onboard, but for some reason it stills tries to load chimera which is weird, maybe its my motherboard cause the post said gigabyte motherboard with integrated graphics, IDK. I thought if you install another booloader over the previous one it will be the new boot for the booloader. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Other than that issue I have every working more or less, stable enough for me. Here are my specs

I3-3240 Ivy Bridge @ 3.4 GHz

Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 Motherboard (Patched Bios 2.7)

8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 Ram

Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB

Roswell Redbone U3 Case

Roswell 650Watt Powersuply

Other extra hardware that dont matter.

To make a long story short all i did was set up mountain lion 10.8.2 just like you normally would, install it run multi-beast choose what you need and restart. Then update to 10.8.3 and restart (Do not run multi-beast again as it will cause problems, most of the kext from previous run are still installed) Should boot up. Now if you have a ati/amd graphics card like I do, then you need to put your dsdt edited for graphics and HD audio in the extra folder then update to 10.8.3 and restart that it. You probably will get a black or white screen just sleep and wake and your good to go.

One problem I had was my keyboard and mouse stay asleep even after system had woke, just be patient it will wake up, only happens every know and then.

Just wanted to give quick instruction on how i got mine working, if you need more detailed help, message me and I will make a video or a detail written guide with pictures.

happy hackintosh

Try a BIOS update, reset the BIOS settings to default after the update & save, then go back into your BiOS after it reboots and redo your settings.

@RobertGee
Would you kindly post your graphics card in the second link in my signature (if I don't already have it listed)?

i updated to the latest bios after posting.. i was thinking possible dead battery on the mobo so i changed that but still nothing.. all settings will stick except for init display first. i searched around for a few hours last night and there is alot of people talking about that setting reverting back to auto but most people just change pci slots with there graphics card to fix the problem. tried every slot and still nothing.. ill keep fooling with it i guess.
