Clover with the old guard: GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2.0

Not yet, I'm not able to boot with clover, I'm stuck on the boot manager screen where you have to choose UEFI USB, I can't go further from there ..

I bet your drive is plugged in to AHCI. I had to go drop down to IDE on port 0 to have it working. Change it in BIOS and give it a try.

That's awesome, it means that your computer is communicating effectively with Apple Servers. From what I read you are only a phone call away from having it working. How is your clover set up??? Options etc.

Also did you experience the performance boost after system sleep? Look at my pics above. I get almost twice the score on Geekbench after the computer sleeps. Weird stuff!!

I tried putting it to sleep and it was a disaster. It didn't wake up, then it powered up and stuck or something - no screen, no reaction. Then on a reset it went to power cycle loop. I cleared CMOS and it stopped it, but I can't get it back up now. It's crashing on every boot. Funny is that Chimera boot does the same for another drive. What a heck?! Is that the crash when AppleACPIPlaform.kext is missing? See attachment. Why it was working before?? It is really weird!!

By the way, is that iMac 5,1 or MacPro 5,1. iMac 5.1 corresponds to late 2006 iMac and those are not supported in OSX 10.10 so it would be very interesting if it's working, MacPro 5.1 would make more sense since that is 2009-2011. Could you confirm? Thanks!

I have iMac5,1 indeed. I think I meant to use MacPro5,1 but messed up. LOL It is... harr... was working though! What spec did you use? By the way, my board is rev1.

Exactly, I have everything in AHCI (I used this configuration to install Yosemite with Unibeast). So, what I have to do is change everything to IDE again? or what exactly I have to change?.

Thank you!

Create the Clover USB as Legacy. The GA-X58A-UD3R board has no UEFI BIOS, so UEFI booting will not work.

I created the Clover USB as Legacy (like what Tonymac says in the guide), maybe the problem is what m4c0ser said about AHCI. I'll take a look later.

I've just finished installing Clover (2976) on my X58A-UD3R mb with fully working Yosemite/Chimera - simply followed the guide.
I actually see no difference so far except the bootloader - everything works fine as it used to with Chimera (i.e. Audio, Ethernet, WiFi, sleep and restart, iCloud etc).

No iMessage yet for some reason, I don't know why as I followed the guide using imessage_debug tool, probably have to double-check my id's or may be get ones from Mavericks setup.

I didn't have time yet to check if the performance is the same as before.

Hey, I think I confused everybody with AHCI. Although I was certain it was in IDE, but now it's crashing on me if Port 0-3 are in IDE. So, I guess I was wrong. What probably will help you is if you stay in AHCI but move the boot drive to Port 0-3, so Clover could see it. Anyway, try something in that area.

I don't want to recommend anything for certain at this point. Although I got Clover boot Yosemite again, I'm getting weird freezes soon after boot, which I didn't have before. Confusing...

Damx, do you care to share your Clover settings and what kexts you added to 10.10? I didn't get the sound on Clover...

Hi Damx,

Have you ran some benchmarks??? Do you get similar scores??? I've been playing with Clover for a week not and still can't get the same scores I was getting with good old chimera. It's driving me crazy!

If you are getting consistent scores, did you install clover fresh or did you "migrate" you clover install from multibeast?

Okey, thank you but how can I move the boot drive to port 0-3? I don't understand this part.

Of course.

As I mentioned my system was already running Yosemite with Chimera, I only changed the bootloader to Clover. In my case it was too easy - I did not create bootable USB and skipped all these steps as I had a fully working system.
Since I did not install any audio at this time, I guess the sound is using the drivers from my old Multibeast installation (use ver. 6.5.0 and not 7.0 with nothing but Audio).

What I did exactly:

1. Download Clover ver 2976 and installed it to my HDD with Legacy settings posted in Step 4 of the guide (How To Install OS X Yosemite Using Clover):
108010d1413735007-how-install-os-x-yosemite-using-clover-clover-10.png
2. Download two kexts - also from the guide:
FakeSMC.kext
RealtekRTL81xx.kext
and place them to /EFI/EFI/Clover/kexts/10.10/
(have to mount EFI partition first to be able to see it)

3. I use DSDT and place it to /EFI/EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched/
(you have to select one which corresponds to your rev.# and BIOS version)

4. Download config.plist-GE=Yes-NVIDIA.zip and move it to /EFI/EFI/Clover/

5. Download Clover Configurator and used it to edit my downloaded config.plist as described in Post#2 of the guide (this step only needed for iMessage issues).

6. Remove (or rename) /Extra/ folder

7. Restart the computer and that's it!

Hope it helps. I agree with Neil who has recommended the similar method to have Yosemite installed with Unibeast and then apply Clover installation over it.
