Hi Wildwillow,

Last Night I tried the following:

  • Plugged my SSD into the Sata0 port.
  • Followed 10.9 Installation guide for formatting SSD.
  • At Chimera I entered -x as suggested.

Still stops me at "Setting Up Your Mac...", as I reboot (the only way to get out of it) and enter Mavericks it did the same thing, "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer".
I even tried plugging the SSD in the Sata1 port just for fun. Same result. Thinking about doing a memtest just to try and eliminate other possibilities.
This is the wierdest thing, I can't find anybody in the hack communities with this same issue, any other ideas how to overcome this?

I haven't seen this issue before, may you are missing the correct format when partitioning the SSD. Ensure that it Guid Partition Table, format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

WildWillow, my hack has been running good since you help me with it, but the bluetooth stopped working a week or so ago, so i time-machined back to a week early and bluetooth started again, but now have a issue of its using all my wired ram, using 24gb of it. i tried a different time machine and same thing, when it boots up its using all of my ram with no programs running. I went to processes and the most any one is using is 500mb. Any ideas, most programs wont open and say not enough memory? help please.

Update, just did a fresh install of mountain lion and same thing 23.56 gb of ram used WIRED.
Also tired taking all the ram out and triing just 2 and then just 1 stick and same thing it would use about all of what was installed at the time.

Hi soloblazer,

I am not sure what is going here, but try disconnecting Time Machine as this seems to be the key to when the problem started.

Yes, what i have done now, is disconnect all the drives including the time machine drive and cd rom. also only thing hooked up is the monitor and usb keyboard and mouse. and same issue, i formated the SSD and reinstalled mac os and same thing. Like i said everything was fine until i did the time machine.

You dont think the video card could be doing this.

Like I mentioned. I am not sure what is going on here soloblazer. You may want to post a thread in the Mountain Lion Desktop Forum. If I were you I would try resetting the CMOS jumper on the motherboard and set up your BIOS again.

Ok, i posted in the Moutain Lion forum as i am running mountain lion, i also clear the cmos, i think, i pressed the cmos button on the motherboard and then reset bio, and reinstalled ML and same thing.

Hi NicoX,

I am using a DVI-HDMI cable from my GT640 and DP from the motherboard. Try changing GraphicsEnabler=No to Yes in your Org.Chameleon.Boot.Plist.

Sure WW,
I will update to after changing GraphicsEnabler = YES.
I suppose it is the problem as
if I use DVI to DVI cable in my 9800GT to connect to monitor then I see 10.9 is booting with lot of text.
I mean all good booting text till the desktop. Just when desktop is coming that time monitor gets no signal.
But as I said earlier when connecting through DVI-HDMI from GA-Z87X-OC to U2412M I get all working s

Thanks a mil wildwillow  the problem is resolved now.
You were correct the trick was GraphicsEnabler = YES.:headbang:
Steps
1. I went to BIOS (thistime I am connected to HDMI-DVI cable from mobo internal graphics to monitor) changed Init Display First = IGFX to Init Display First = PCI. Not sure why IGFX did not work (no graphics in monitor).
2. Went to org.chameleon.Boot.plist and changed
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
Earlier it was NO.

I can see BIOS and select different OS now from Chimera boot screen connecting 9800GT to monitor via DVI-DVI cable.

 Totally off topic but as I can not PM you till now so asking here (Admins please dont mind :)).
I saw you were using CM CPU cooler to GAZ87X-OC.
Just asking if you can give some idea. I am thinking to get Noctua NHD14. Noctua says cooler fan pins might touch GPU upper face components (near cooler)if used in slot1 for our mobo.
http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_gen&products_id=34&lng=en#LGA1155_Gigabyte
(search with GA-Z87X-OC).
Can you suggest
1. Can I use any GPU with our mobo in slot2 with 16X support ... full BW?
2. Can I use Noctua NHD14 in our mobo with GPU as GTX 780 or 770 (by MSI) without touching ?

Again thanks for elevating the road block.:D

Hi NicoX,

Well I am glad you have it working to your liking. As for the water-cooling, I have no experience with them on this motherboard. So you will have to do you math and work out the dimensions of both your cooler and graphics card. You can find these on the manufacturers website. There is also a coupe of CPU water-coolers in the buyers guide if you haven't already seen them here CPU Coolers
