Nvidia 550Ti Sleep / Wake / Freeze Thread

Hi all,
I'm currently running a Asus 550 Ti CU ed. It works perfect out of th box, even appears 100% correct in system info. but sleep/wake up locks my machine [which is not an issue for me as I don't like having my pc/macs going to sleep] and sometimes when I return from one of those fancy new picture screen savers my wallpaper on my right display (DVI) goes a bit funny NOT my desktop just the wallpaper it's self, ML pulls the bottom 3rd of the wallpaper from my left display (VGA) and sometimes inverts it. The only way I have found to fix it is to change the wallpaper.
PS: i thought that the sleep/wake issue happens to most hacks???

BTW my specs are:
gigabyte EP4IT-USB3 mobo
4 GB Cheap DDR3 RAM
Core 2 Duo 2.93Ghz (OC'ed to 3.4GHz)
Asus Nvidia 550 Ti CU ed. 1GB OC'ed to 910ish MHz
A butt load of fans.! lol

I had the same problem. I fixed by extracting the kexts from the nvidia official drivers and installed them with kext wizard

Gracias manolis13, but does not work, installing the new nVidia's drivers i get the same problem using the vczilla's tutorial. I can get to the home screen but when I type the password I can not reach the desktop, back again to the home screen. I am using a GT430 running on ML 10.8.2

Restoring the old drivers almost all work ok, sleep, dual monitor,HDMI audio etc etc etc ... but awakening the hackintosh the screen is frozen, but can move the mouse ... the unique way of escape of the situation is restarting the hackintosh

Thanks
Grettings

Install 10.8.2 first.

It's working fine nows, I re-installed ML and made a DSDT for my board and nows it's all peaches :D

...are we still waiting for nvidia to release an updated driver that works naively with 10.8.2? Come on, nvidia: you've had access to this patch set while it was still under development!

Hi folks!

After fighting with kexts and video card, I found a clever solutions! The GeForce 550 Ti was sold!

Now I'm using an old NVIDIA GT 8600 1GB DDR3 that works at 100% in ML, any freeze, or broke desktop after wake ...really nice!!! the 550 Ti it was a really Pain in the a**

Maybe I will buy a NVIDIA GT 640... any experience with this OOB card?? I'm not gaming nor PRO video editing.

Good luck guys!

Roy

I picked up an EVGA 640. Runs fine. Works as expected (sleep/wake/resolution change/etc). It is not a great performer, but will hold me until I go for the 660 TI when prices drop down below $170 or so. No hurry here.

It runs most games I have (D3) fine and plays video well.

I'm stuck after "Waiting for DSMOS..." after applying the patch. Any ideas?

This time it's final! (At least I hope).

...
Then you'll have to install nvidia's pkg as usual, DO NOT reboot once it's done.
...

Which kexts should I install from the nvidia driver package?

From Pacifist I see:
GeForce.kext
GeForceGA.plugin
GeForceGLDriver.bundle
GeForceVADriver.bundle
NVDAGF100Hal.kext
NVDAGK100Hal.kext
NVDANV50Hal.kext
NVDAResman.kext

I have a GTX480. I know this card is a Fermi card. I definitely want to load NVDAGF100Hal.kext but what about the GeForce.kext and the NVDAResman.kext? Do I load those also? Do I ignore the .plugin and .bundle files?

Thanks.

You need all of them. Just delete the existing ones, and then place the new ones there.
