don't forget the MacOS wifi card ;)

make sure the trackpad is a synaptics and not an alps ideally, i have alps and it works good but i dont have full apple trackpad functionality. curious to see if your able to get the SD card reader on yours to work with macOS

will you be dual booting windows or linux?

hoping to see this next release with opencore 0.6.9 in a couple days ;)
WiFi card is no problem i have:
- Bcm94360cs2
- DW1820A
- BCM94352Z

TrackPad is Synaptics as i used it previously on my T440S.
No special drivers needed, buttons work fine on Windows Linux and macOS, no need for special drivers on Windows like those ebay/AliExpress models do, this one is genuine pulled from a used damaged T450S laptop.

Card Reader to be tested

Dual Booting later when i buy an additional SSD.
Will keep macOS until i fix the rest of the possible problems then install Linux as that’s what i mainly use for now

OC 0.6.9 should be up within a week.

not sure what you mean by this. AFAIK the ebay/aliexpress ones are genuine and real OEM or pulled from faulty units, personally i ordered a synaptics but i received an alps.

Originally i paid £25 but he refunded me £10 for the mistake so i kept the alps and it works fine. Fairly sure that if i get a synaptics version out of a real thinkpad or off ebay/aliexpress that it is the same thing, have you seen any evidence that would make you think otherwise?

everything works fine for me except for the apple multitouch gestures basically, but i heard the synaptics also feels much better, i hate this one but i dont think ill like the synaptics anywa, im always using G603 mouse on the side connected to bluetooth anyway :p

would be cool if we could somehow get the dock working with sleep when using dock HDMI/DP

That’s exactly the problem:
1. not all of them are real and pulled from real hardware/thinkpad, some are clones and the firmware is not correctly cloned so you have to download a special older driver to have working physical buttons to work.
2. These that are pulled, they are wrriten like Touchpad for T440p,t450,W550,L450 and not every model is the same.

For me i found a T450S for part (only the palmrest with touchpad and damaged keyboard, i pulled the touchpad which was on perfect shape.
On windows i simply go to lenovo support site and go to T450S drivers and download latest driver for touchpad and that’s it (which is the ideal genuine replacement that anyone would want).
Same goes for my x240, this time i ordered on AliExpress but the thing is that the X240 has a smaller touchpad compared to other 14” thinkpads and it wrote clear that it is a X250 genuine touchpad, i ordered it and installed latest x250 touchpad driver from lenovo support and boom works like charm.

not the same story with my L440, never managed to find the corresponding driver to get physical buttons to work on Windows. Which is that fake clone.

Alps should be fine now with VoodooPS2 not long ago, supported has been added.
And it should work just fine (best on Linux though).
About the dock, i have no high hopes about the fix, it’s just problematic to fix that. More like issue with Apple driver not supporting stuff such as port replication i guess.

Quick Update:
I received the laptop and it is in great shape, i replaced the i5-4200M with the i7-4700MQ and installed 16GB of Ram.
Replaced the 1600x900 display with the IPS FHD B140HAN01.3 and updated to latest bios versions and firmwares.
I also downloaded the macOS 11.3.

To-Do for tonight:
- Prepare macOS 11.3 USB Installer
- Install the T450S Touchpad
- Remove Bios Whitelist
- Install macOS Big Sur 11.3

I must say, it’s surprising the fact that it doesn’t look too thick of a laptop for me.
Maybe it’s the fact that people on YouTube kept saying things like (you have to see it in hands to realize how thick it is).

As for performance, even though Haswell generation started to see it’s age, these i7 quad core QM or HQ do smoke the U series up to the i5-8250U if i recall correctly from YouTubers tests that they have done.
It is noticeable even on light tasks compared to the U series i have at home.
The 2017 Retina 13” MacBookPro without touchbar, the X240 the T440S, T440 etc.

moving to 11.3 it seems VoodooHDA isnt working, so ive switched over to AppleALC.kext but i cant get rid of the damn buzzing when using headphones on the audio jack, i guess ill be reverting to 11.2.3 as having a buzz on my audio jack like this is simply not acceptable :( if anyone does have there T440P working with no buzz and AppleALC PLEASE let me know, thanks! :)

do you have a T440P? VoodooHDA always worked perfectly for me so dont know how it can get better if ALC does the same thing but is unusable because of headphone jack audio, seems to be like 90% of people are willing to put up with this, if someone is willing to put up with that buzzing and still chooses ALC over VoodooHDA im confused as to why

hense my original reply asking T440P users specifically
