[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Attached. Run with no SSDT from cold boot with device on first.

I'm curious to wether or not this approach is universal and this is helpful. So, thanks for trying!
I tried (Gigabyte z170x-ud5 th) without ssdt and see that RP05 is not empty. This is a miracle :)

I can't see your message in full as I have <75 posts. Upload the original NUC firmware.bin and I'll see if I can patch it for you.

thanks for replying. I thought you might not be able to PM. I was surprised I was allowed to try to send a message to you. in any case, Elias64Fr coached me thru the process. I had to sand down one edge of the clip since there is a module right next to the Winbond chip, but in the end I was able to successfully read. I will flash the modded firmware tomorrow. I don't want to hijack this thread with NUC talk. if I'm not successful I'll start a new thread.

Hi @qthegaijin,

Could you try theses 3 files in order of number at the end :) .. then report back, Thanks !

@CaseySJ @Elias64Fr

Attached is my firmware from the built in alpine ridge on the GA-Z170X-DESIGNARE. As @losinka said it may be the same as theirs. If you can work your magic I can test it out today. :lol:
Please try the attached file:
  • No guarantees this will work.
  • After flashing is done, please shutdown and flip switch on PSU to OFF for 10 seconds.
    • This is a cold boot; it's necessary.
Good luck!

UPDATE: Didn't see @Elias64Fr's reply above! Please try his three files first.

You can note that this is an uncommon Alpine Ridge 0x1577 on NHI0, This controller has never been used by Apple. MacOS drivers might be not adapted !

@Elias64Fr ,

Was able to test Firmware v01 before having to stop for some work.

Without SSDT: No Thunderbolt populates in the drivers tab or IOreg BUT, unless this is leftover from the titan ridge card, thunderbolt bridge shows up in network devices.

With SSDT: Same as without SSDT.

Will be back to testing in a few hours and will also try @CaseySJ 's files as well!
I usually flash the chip with the power supply off/unplugged entirely for 30 seconds beforehand.

Thank you both for real!

EDIT: upon quick IOreg look, I dont have PXSX, I have only UPSB. Would that be why the ssdt is not taking since it looks for PXSX?

After verifying, It seem that your original firmware (wrong original) have 2 DIFFERENT partitions,one with Z170 Designare and another with GA-Z170X-TBT3-6L that mean you have already tried flashing another file, Right ?
  1. What tool have you tried for this ? It will be interesting to know :)
  2. You have to use an original firmware to patch 2 partitions at same time or correct offset to be sure that patched partition will be used at boot.
