[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

That might be the problem...each drive should have a different name. Anyway, it would be good to see the EFIClone log using the same three names.

So even with the drives having the ending different that’s still to close?

Cause they technically are all different.

“macOS - Main”
“hackintosh - Main”
“hackintosh - Test”

Okay, those are all different names. The quotation marks help. Anyway, it's good to repeat the test with these names.

@CaseySJ So the unthinkable happened last night after multiple clone scripts have run successful I ran a clone last night and sure enough it wiped all my drives connected to the computer including 2 separate clones and external hard drive.

It’s my fault I was still using v3 it had not given me any issues.

I will mention tho On the positive note I was able to reinstall Catalina 10.15.2 without any issues first attempt again on to NVMe in M2P directly. Lol positive side haha

Bad news is it wiped the main boot drive, my clone backup, and my clone test drive along with 4tb external Plex media drive completely gone... what I don’t understand is how it even had access to do so...

Luckily... there was nothing that isn’t replaceable just more an annoyance to have to rebuild. I would say I feel like home folder on separate drive would be good in this situation but if the script erased everything connected to the computer I’m sure it would have wiped that as well. I think the only thing to avoid something like this would be a time machine backup.
So Sorry to hear that.
This won't retrieve you data but you can take a look at Macrium Reflect.
I use it to make bootable images of any OS. It's a windows software but you can create a bootable image (Windows PE) and boot from a USB flash drive.

First, again, great job on this guide. I used the mini guide to install clean Catalina with 5700 XT (twice), and It has been rock solid.
I have some post install questions I hope someone can help me with;
- when MultiBeast comes out for Catalina, should I use it to install new drivers?
- which drivers should I keep an eye out for, for new releases? (would like to fix i211 driver, improve gfx driver and monitoring)
- if a new driver/kext comes out, is it simply deleting the old kext and paste in the new one?
- Gigabyte in Windows has an SIV app which lets you control fans is there anything like that for Hackintosh or Mac in general?

Hi Casey and all,
I wish you the best for this new year!

After made a GB5, I noticed that my frequency memory was not at the right value. D you have to make a particular adjustment? Normaly the memory are 3200MHz.

Thank you.

Hello @pitt1717

In general, the answer is no. MultiBeast is typically used for one-time post-installation; it is not used to keep the system files current. For example, MultiBeast installs a specific version of Clover, but it's not used to install the latest version. Same for each of the drivers and kexts.

We should keep an eye on the following:
  • Acidanthera GitHub page, which includes:
    • Lilu, WhateverGreen, AppleALC
    • VirtualSMC
We should also keep an eye on the latest releases of Clover and OpenCore (depending on which one you're using):
  • Clover is available here.
  • OpenCore is available here.
- if a new driver/kext comes out, is it simply deleting the old kext and paste in the new one?
  • Drivers are installed only in CLOVER/UEFI/drivers folder and can be updated simply by copying a new one.
  • Kexts are installed in CLOVER/kexts/Other (per Catalina mini-guide) or in both CLOVER/kexts/Other and /Library/Extensions (per Mojave install guide, post #1).
    • Kexts in CLOVER/kexts/Other can be replaced simply by copying a new one.
    • Kexts in /Library/Extensions are replaced the same way, but we must run Kext Utility afterwards to rebuild the kernel cache.
- Gigabyte in windows has an SIV app which lets you control fans is there anything like that for Hackintosh or Mac in general?
As far as I know, we can monitor but not control the fans connected to the Gigabyte fan headers. Future versions of VirtualSMC might allow us to control them as well.

@CaseySJ - I am not sure if this has been discussed re: Titan Ridge hot swap with a USBc flash device. I tried it and it works and wake from sleep is also not a problem.

Great information. Thanks!

Is there anyway to see which versions are currently installed? This way in the future we can see when we need to update, etc.? Also, any word on i211 driver? Ethernet seems to work but iStat or activity monitor doesn't seem to get the correct values for bandwidth monitoring. Or is there something else I can use to see throughput?

I found an old post of yours https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...ignare-z390-with-i7-9700k.266065/post-1865995 . Does this still apply? Is this why the i211 port may not be reporting correctly?

Great, thanks so much. looking into it now.
Just throwing these two pictures in for anyone who is considering air cooling. My son has a Kraken on his gaming PC and I wasn't fond of the fact that you could hear the pump in combo with the fans really ramp up. Even at low use you get the hum from the pump. Of course, he's pushing his gpu because of the games, but for me I went with air cooling. While the Noctua NH-U14S does block my access to Slot 1 (guess I could have gone with the 120mm instead of the 140mm) it's dead silent during normal use - even when doing some simple video editing.

While I'm not dissuading anyone from water cooling, I am saying that you can get a silent Hackintosh with simple air cooling. Sorry, no flashy colors on this boring build. :)

Hackintool reports out in the main ones (though I dunno how it picks the ones that it reports out on).
