[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@XeasyX,

Please look for those missing SSDTs in “Post-Installation Files.zip” which is attached to the end of the build guide.

Starting with 10.14.5 I do not recommend the use of the RX580 SSDT. This doesn’t mean it must be avoided, but buyer beware...

I see that your USB ports have stopped working. Please check that the USB SSDT and USBInjectAll kext are both installed. If problem persists, we can help you to troubleshoot it.

@CaseSJ Wow! Thank you for your super fast answer. Installed the files and now all ports seem to respond. That's awesome! It's midnight in Germany, so I'll call it a day. But really looking forward to edit some 4K on this tomorrow. Let's see if there is any difference to my 2012 MBP ;)
Thank you for all the time you invest in this thread, the build and the troubleshooting!!

When all else fails, I always recommend doing a new clean install (but use same serial numbers as before) on a spare 256GB SATA SSD mounted inside a USB 3 external enclosure. All USB, PCIe, and Thunderbolt devices should be removed except keyboard, mouse, dGPU, and Fenvi FV-T919. If sleep and wake work correctly in this baseline build, then it becomes a matter of plugging in external and internal devices one by one until sleep breaks again. That will identify the culprit device.

But if sleep never fails, then install third party apps one by one until it breaks.

If sleep still does not break, then congratulations! You have now solved the sleep problem. Carefully move your data to the external SATA SSD until it becomes the primary system, then eventually clone it to the internal SSD.

Use same serial numbers?
Remove all data drives too?

Please check whether Platform ID is set to 0x3E9B0007. Hackintool’s default screen will show that.

If it is set to this value, we’ll need to switch to headless platform ID 0x3E980003.

Not sure how to check, but the OS calls this machine a "iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)"

I also have already used iMovie on this successfully a few weeks ago with no changes.

Sorry, @CaseySJ I clearly can't read. I can't find me USB toolset I used for the install, so I downloaded 2.7.7 of Hackintool. It says my platform ID is 0x3E920000

Here's all the info on the main page:

Alex, please see this post for instructions on setting platform ID 0x3E980003.

To be safe, data drives should also be disconnected. We need to use the same serial numbers by just copying the existing config.plist into the CLOVER folder of the new SATA SSD. The sleep problems are not due to config.plist, but to something else (can be either hardware or software) that has been installed. Using the same serial numbers ensures that we don’t have to re-license any applications.

*** Mini-Guide: Using Hackintool to Set Headless Platform ID 0x3E980003 ***

Step 1:

Step 2:
Mount EFI partition of your Mojave SSD.

Step 3:
View attachment 411252

Step 4:
Select the existing config.plist in the EFI/CLOVER folder. Don't worry, Hackintool will backup the existing file and insert the patch in a non-destructive manner.

Step 5:
In Clover Configurator open the modified config.plist and ensure that all entries in the Graphics page are empty.

Reboot.

Looks like I did everything right, though when I open the plist with clover, I see "Inject Intel" still checked. I don't think that should be checked... right?

Here are my screenshots of what I did

*** Please help with Z390 Aorus Xtreme ***

I've tried unsuccessfully to get a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Xtreme with bios F7 to boot with an i9-9900K & Vega 56.
I've followed the guide. Added the files for the Z390 Xtreme (SSDT-Z390-AORUS-EXTREME-TB3HP-V4.aml,SSDT-UIAC-AORUS-EXTREME-Z390-V3.aml,SSDT-EC.aml,SSDT-DTPG.aml,& SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-NO-CNVW.aml in ACPI/patched) and USBInjectAll.kext in kexts/other. I have a BCM94360CS2 wifi/bluetooth card. I've tried disabling the 10G NIC, disabling the onboard intel NIC, disabling the onboard audio, using a different NIC, etc.
The setup will run memtest overnight with no errors. It is not overclocked.
I have 64GB RAM and a 2TB Samsung 970 Evo NVMe drive.
Sometimes I get "Couldn't allocate runtime area"
Sometimes I get a freeze (see screenshot)
Sometimes I get a kernel panic
My display is connected to HDMI out on the Vega 56.
I'm trying to install 10.14.6 with UniBeast 9.2.0
Does anyone see anything obvious that I've done wrong or recognize a symptom of some obvious mis-config? Does anyone have any suggestions of steps to take?
Should I be using a specific USB port to boot from on the Z390 Aorus Xtreme?

Thanks Mate

Confirm working on i9-9900K
Ram -> HyperX RGB@3600 x16g
NVME -> Samsung 970 pro 512

Mobo BIOS :F7

Have to enable

  • Vt-d → Enable
  • CSM Support → Enable

Rest of them are history

Mainly for Xcode, Flutter development, Android

Genymotion works

TB works
Audio works
HDMI on Rx580 Gaming X

Wifi and BT are waiting shipping from China

I also own a Macbook pro i9, pretty much double of the speed, cost 1/3 of the price
