[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ Just wanted to thank you again for this walkthrough--I backtracked and did a few steps again and now have a very fast, very capable machine for under 2k. I appreciate you!
Glad to hear it! You’re always welcome to post any issues should they occur.

@CaseySJ

I just started working on a video project today, and I can't open iMovie. I used GarageBand for the first time on this Hackintosh, and, after, I can't open iMovie. Suggestions?

I tried deleting the .plist for iMovie. Tried restarting. Also reinstalled iMovie.
Please check whether Platform ID is set to 0x3E9B0007. Hackintool’s default screen will show that.

If it is set to this value, we’ll need to switch to headless platform ID 0x3E980003.

Two questions for you and the rest of the community:
1): I'm thinking about doing all the tweaks manually as described in this great guide, or do you recommend that I use the attached files instead?
2) Any issues with the Radeon VII that I should be prepared to deal with?

BTW: I really had my heart set on the Mac Pro 2019, but that price man... :thumbdown
Hello @WilleC,

For the full unabashed Hackintoshing experience, yes you may do all the tweaks manually, including creating the USB SSDT. :)

The Radeon VII is quite well supported in 10.14.6 so the standard installation with Lilu and WhateverGreen should work out well.

I agree that Apple has targeted video studios and other commercial markets for the new MacPro, effectively pricing the rest of us out. The Designare-based Hackintosh is a great choice for prosumers like us, but I would like to build a higher-core Ice-Lake based successor sometime in the first half of next year — and at a more reasonable price point.

Did that...thanks
When all else fails, I always recommend doing a new clean install (but use same serial numbers as before) on a spare 256GB SATA SSD mounted inside a USB 3 external enclosure. All USB, PCIe, and Thunderbolt devices should be removed except keyboard, mouse, dGPU, and Fenvi FV-T919. If sleep and wake work correctly in this baseline build, then it becomes a matter of plugging in external and internal devices one by one until sleep breaks again. That will identify the culprit device.

But if sleep never fails, then install third party apps one by one until it breaks.

If sleep still does not break, then congratulations! You have now solved the sleep problem. Carefully move your data to the external SATA SSD until it becomes the primary system, then eventually clone it to the internal SSD.

FYI:

Updated to latest macOS Mojave 10.14.6 Supplemental Update released yesterday , no issues at all

Thanks, so is it just delete the old ones and copy the new ones? I did that but I couldn't boot
I use Hackintool, but definitely make sure you have a backup method of booting...

Hey @CaseySJ thank you so much for this built! Had it up and running with minor issues today. One thing I still have trouble with:
I can not find all the kexts that you list for the Fractal R6 case. The zip-file "Fractal Design..." contains only five files and one pdf. Two of which have the same name only different file type dal and aml. I can not find ->
  1. SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-NO-CNVW.aml
  2. SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-TB3HP-V4.aml
  3. SSDT-DTPG.aml
Maybe I am just blind after some hours of working on this, so excuse me if it's clearly posted somewhere? Can't find it.

And additional question:
I have the RX590 in Slot 1. Should I useSSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-RX580-V2.aml ? Do I need to rename it to 590 or change anything to make it work? AND where to I find it?

Thank you so much!
