Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

Needing help,

I updated from a HD5850 to a GTX 970 Xtreme Gaming installed the last web driver did the booting flag correctly but at user login getting some white stripes and showing VRAM=0 on ''About this mac'', any ideas? It shows my GTX 970 but with VRAM =0.

I disabled injecting nvidia on config.plist but nothing...

Note... My system boots correctly no problem on that.

thx.

This is my first Hack. Thanks to tripator for his post about his build. I am up and running with El Cap 10.11.6 with the built in graphics on the CPU using HDMI connection. I have run Multibeast and all seems OK, sound works, USB, etc. I thought I was ready to install my Nvidia GT 740 4GB. I have downloaded and installed the correct driver without the GPU installed. I rebooted the computer, then turned it off and installed my GPU using the HDMI port. In the BIOS I changed the Graphics to PCIe 1. That is the only BIOS change I made. I rebooted and let it auto start. It failed about halfway through. I tried a second time, same result. So I removed the GPU and changed the BIOS graphics back to the CPU. Everything seems to work with the exception of the computer not waking after sleep. I checked in System Prefs and the Nvidia Driver mgr is there and it says I have the latest and correct Web Drivers. I'm not sure where I went wrong. I did not try Clover and I'm not sure how to proceed. Guidance anyone?

Just what I was looking for! For me I completed my first machine today that is fully functional. Since it was with 10.11.6, I found that 346.03.15f01 is the driver that worked for me. I initially installed the newer one, no go. It added a nvidia boot flag which wouldn't allow it to boot. After putting nv_disable=1 in clover arguments, I was able to get in, remove the newest driver, and install 15f01. Thanks again for the awesome write up and screenshots!

Try to enable the NVRAM. There are instructions on the first page. Also, boot with the nvda_drv=1 boot flag.

Look at this thread: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/b...apitan-install-problems.173991/#CategorySleep
Try the steps listed in section 10.

Try disabling SIP there
Disabling SIP and rebooting fixed it!
Thank you.

For all those out there that have made it through the 100+ pages of help prior to this on, it was a little elusive on how to boot to the recovery disk to disabling SIP. You need to have the kexts in your EFI/CLOVER/kext/10.11 directory or your boot process will hang when trying to boot to the recovery partition. After you're in, a quick csrutil disable; reboot in Terminal will take care of it.

If you have 0MB for your VRAM then you have inject nvidia enabled still. Make sure you are editing the config located at EFI/EFI/CLOVER.

Boot with nvda_drv=1 make sure inject nvidia is set to false.

Hi,

Another newbie here. I am bumping into thee same situation. I have nvda_drv=1 set and made made sure the inject nvidia is set to false. Below is my Sys config:

System Configuration
Gigabyte z170x gaming 5
Intel I7 6700k
16gb Crucial Ballistix Sport LT
EVGA Ge Force GTX 950 SC ACX 2.0
Seagate Hybrid Drive ST1000DX001 1TB

I did everything as suggested in Problem 6, but to no avail. Attached is my config.plist. Any ideas? Thanks.

Your config.plist is corrupt - A malformed config.plist is the same as not having one at all.
"config.plist: Found non-key inside <dict> at line 113"

Do not use a text editor to edit your config.plist, it can/will destroy the formatting.

For Problem 4, where exactly do you add that code in the .plist? I added it the same as the other codes (format and line pattern) but it made no difference. Changing the board id to none gives me the block sign on boot.

I want to do it the right way in clover, but don't know how. Can anyone help? System info is in the Sig thanks
