Have any of you with this build ever tried run Windows Virtual Machine with VMWare or Parallel Desktops? If so, how's the speed? Somehow, virtual machine under my X99 board runs really slow. I'm thinking of build another with this build if the VM runs as it should.
I run a VM for remedial tasks in win7. Ive allotted 6 CPUs and 8GB Ram to it. The VM is on a old spinning drive. Not sure what you mean by slow or what you're trying to do in virtual windows but maybe this answers your question??

Thanks for the valuable info and OC procedure Shilohh and Front-Dev.

Well the good news is that is was able to bring the RAM up to speed manually. Every time I tried with XMP it would not post, so instead I brought it up gradually in increments from 1333. Just ran a 2 hour Prime95 torture test at 4.36GHz and 2133Mhz without any errors, temps hovering around 70-72C with a few peaks at 75C. VCORE at 1.200 Ofset mode + 0.100 (does that mean a VCORE of 1.300? I find that confusing) A bit high isn't it? VCCSA is at 1.250.

Also HWMonitor is giving me weird voltage readings. I installed the latest version with the sensors in SLE but the voltages don't seem to make sense. See image attached under Prime95 load.

Looks like I might have a bit of headroom still. What do you guys think?

Coming along fine, thanks to your good instructions!

RAM is stable at 2133MHz with a VCCSA and VTT at 1.0. Now on to the CPU, which seems power hungry... Won't boot at VCORE 1.290, running at 1.340. Prime95 (with 59GB of ram) is stable after 15 minutes. Temps at 69C, 71C max. Multiplier is at 44X

Should I bring up the VCCSA and VTT in order to bring the VCORE down?

Thanks!

I've tried this method and a few others to get 10.11.2 installed, but regardless of the flags, USB stick and such. I keep bombing out at the "missing bluetooth transport" followed by the "still waiting for root device" and then the No Symbol on the screen.

I've tried what I could find on these errors and so far none of it has worked.

I've got a RIVE 64gb wt a 980ti. The CPU and GPU are water cooled, if that might be relevant.

Any suggestions?

Windows VM runs really slow on my GA-X99-Gaming G1 with i7-5930k. The user interface responded really slow and when I tried to start a program, for example, it started up really slow versus on my GA-Z77X-UP4 TH with i7-3770k it started up almost instantly. At first I thought it's VMWare Fusion 7/8 might have some compatibility issues with my board, so I download a trial version of Parallel Desktops 11 and it had the same issue.

So, I'm assumes this build doesn't have these issues? Issues like Windows OS loads slowly, user interface responded slowly, and app starts slowly. It feels almost like I'm running on a system with just 256MB RAM.

Did you try nv_disable=1, yet?

Yes. I've tried all of the common boot flags (cpus=1 npci=0x2/3000 nv_disable=1 dart=0 rootless=0 kext-dev-mode=1), a good chunk of the old/obsolete ones (GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=0/1) and some of the uncommon ones.

I've tried mac pro 3,1 5,1 and 6,1.

I've gone through the simple and obvious ones that are easily googleable. Different USB ports

Aside from making things blow up somewhat earlier if I do something like omit cpus=1. None of them have helped or made a difference.

Listo,
Try bringing vccsa and vtt up to 1.1 or 1.15 to see if you can bring vcore down but I doubt it's going to work that way. A lot of people run vcore up at 1.35 but that seems scary high to me. Honestly, I'm not an expert on over clocking. I've just shared my process based on my research. As I understand it, the enemy is heat. If your core temps never go above 75c, 1.34 should be ok (just my opinion, but you should form your own opinion based on your own research).

Ggeorge,
You followed this guide exactly as instructed for the R4E with the 3930k and it didn't work? I ask because you've listed some old/chameleon only boot arguments in your post. The only boot args you need are in the config.plists already. The Bluetooth message is irrelevant. The one that is relevant is "still waiting for root device". Clover doesn't see a installer to boot. Either your USB stick is bad or it's not connected to a proper USB 2 port or your bios USB 2 settings are wrong or you didn't use the correct acpi files. Also, what bios are you on?

VCore should be what is actually reported by HWMonitor or whatever tool you use. Also make sure that Voltage actually changes when using offsets. Vcore @1.2V is not that high imho, but offset of 0.1 could be lower a bit maybe. With offsets, you should aim for very small values. I even have a negative value of -0.05V, and voltage never exceeds 1.2V at full load (but only @ 4.2GHz). So 1.2 sounds not too bad. I would avoid anything over 1.35V, but as Shilohh said, temps are even more important.
