The New Beginner's Guide to USB Port Configuration

I don't like to tell people what to do because they can sometimes lose data. There are no rules really. I just want you to succeed and am sorry Hackintool did not work for you in this case.
OK, then I'll probably have to give up on that. Today I got another Panic and reboot after working with an USB Device.
Code:
panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff7f9c596ad5): userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from com.apple.WindowServer in 120 seconds
service: com.apple.logd, total successful checkins since wake (1040 seconds ago): 105, last successful checkin: 0 seconds ago
service: com.apple.WindowServer, total successful checkins since wake (1040 seconds ago): 93, last successful checkin: 120 seconds ago

It's a pity that you are on the right track with your guide at first, but then get stuck in the difficult places and are left standing.
Thanks a lot anyway for your time and your efforts

It's a pity that you are on the right track with your guide at first, but then get stuck in the difficult places and are left standing.
Thanks a lot anyway for your time and your efforts

Thanks for telling me I'm on the right track with the guide. I'm sorry you feel you were "left standing", when the going got tough. Given the time I devoted trying to help you, checking files, pointing out and correcting errors, that's not true.

This thread is a Beginner's Guide, not an advanced support thread. Despite this, I didn't ignore you, I stuck with your problems and tried to help.

Did you try the original, earlier guide as suggested? Are you saying that did not work either?

If both the answers are "yes" ... What is so unusual about your hardware? Nothing we can see.

It is possible there are bugs in Hackintool. They are rare, but if one appears I try to help people get around it.

Your PC looks perfectly suitable for the job and USB can be configured with USBInjectAll.kext.

Kernel panics related to USB might not be caused by the port configuration as such, but related to power delivery. Hackintool helps with that too, as does SSDT-USBX.aml.

Hello there.

No, you didn't do anything wrong. I do ave a few recommendations though, that might be useful.

1) First, most obvious test you can do is move the wired mouse connection to a different port. I guess you might already have tried this. Was the mouse still hanging every few seconds?

2) I'm curious as to why you think the wired-mouse problem might be related to getting Bluetooth working... Has something made you believe they are connected? If so, which Bluetooth adapter are you using?

3) No need to include the USR ports in your 15. As you can see in IORegistryExplorer they are appearing between the HS and SS ports (yes, they are at the bottom of the list but check their enumerators).

4) You haven't stated which version of macOs you are using. This can be relevant to the CrsActiveConfig setting you are using.

:)

Thanks for the quick reply

1) It also does not work on the other connections and also occurs with other mice.

2) It was just a guess, because the error occurred after I created my USBPorts.kext and used the BrcmPatch3.kext to get my bluetooth working. After I did a reinstall, the error also occurs. The bootloader is 5102 before it was 4961.

3) ok thank. I have changed it.

4) it is 10.15.2.

I don't seem to be the only one:

Okay, Catalina brings new issues to the table.

The OP of the thread you link to solved their problem by upgrading to Sierra !! :)

My suggestion?

Move USBPorts.kext from Library/Extensions to EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other and rebuild the kext-caches. Reboot and test again.

:)

Okay, well if not hardware this still sounds like a background process going online checking for feedback or phoning-home.

But as we're a USB thread, for completeness-sake remove all devices except keyboard and mouse, which should be in USB ports 1 and 2, usually under the PS/2 socket. Check the motherboard manual in case of variation. If they're bluetooth devices and the BT adapter is on an internal port specced as UsbConnector type 0xff (255) they shouldn't interfere.

If the sleep/wake cycles continue with no other USB devices attached, likely you will need to review what software you have installed and which is of a type to periodically ping a server. A new thread might be required to drag in support etc.

To be clear, USB can wake a system, but I haven't come across a device that puts your PC to sleep again later (hey, but I'm always learning!)
Things have been looking up since making an accurate USBPorts.kext and installing SSDT-USBX.aml in patched but sleep was still cranky until I got a new BenQ monitor. Now everything is peachy. I guess part of the problem was the old Nexius monitor?

Hm, so I've tested a this a few different ways. I'm noticing that adding the USBPorts.kext to /EFI/CLOVER/kext/other doesn't work. Not sure if its because I'm running 10.15.2 or not, thoughts?
  1. First time I installed it, placed it in /EFI/CLOVER/kext/other, restarted all the HS01-> HS-14 ports show up with only one SS01... weird.
  2. Installed it in /L/E, rebuild caches, restart. The selected ports I disabled no longer show up for HS ports, and the SS ports I disabled and enabled are listed correctly.
Specs:
  • Gigabyte Z370N - BIOS F13 ( needed for i9000K ).
  • Clover r5102
  • Broadcom m.2 adapter wifi/bluetooth
Think it's okay to leave it in /L/E ?

Hi there.

Very interesting.

Possibly a bug in the latest Clover but then, logically, no other kexts installed in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other should work either. So I am not sure what's happening.

Normally for Catalina you do have to enable R/W access to the system partition and adjust SIP to allow third-party kexts to run. EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other should get around this.

However, you have the evidence in front of you so...

A mystery.

:)

I should mentioned, all my Kexts are in /L/E, not on purpose, but mainly because when using hackintool to install kexts this is the default location :O. Is there a way to test if kexts in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other are being used?

Yes and no. If they have compiled code in them they should appear in a Terminal kextstat report. However codeless ones like USBPorts.kext were chosen for this tutorial and Catalina because they are "invisible" and more likely to work in future. But bugs appear in all kinds of unexpected places.

Hi, I need help ...

I'm having problems with usb ports. With hackintool not all ports show what is connected when texting ports. no usb 2.0 port shows the name of the connected device. some 3.0 ports show 2.0 it but not all but show all 3.0 devices name. if I use some USB 3.0 ports, some 2.0 devices stop working well .. I tried a thousand combinations: EHC1 to EH01 -EHC2 to EH02 - EUSB to EH01 - USBE to EH02 - XHCI to XHC - XHC1 to XHC but I was unable to solve! I'd like to see where I'm wrong! thank you!
