Hello
@oopsydaisy (such an appropriate name for a hackintosher
)
- We need to update WhateverGreen to version 1.3.4 or newer. It's a good idea to update Lilu and AppleALC as well. Note that these kexts should be updated in both CLOVER/kexts/Other and /Library/Extensions.
- After updating to /Library/Extensions, we must run Kext Utility to rebuild kernel cache.
Thanks for the tips,
@CaseySJ. So after I had my build up and running well, I set up the 1 click backup you referred to using CCC and the EFI script. I went to a headless platform ID, replaced fakesmc with virtualsmc, separated my home directory to another volume. All was working well, including TB, USB, WiFi, Bluetooth, audio, sleep. For all intents an purposes, a Mac. As I mentioned earlier, I intend to run a 5700 XT, so I thought I could install Catalina to be prepared.
I made a backup before I updated WEG, Lilu and AppleALC as you suggested. Rebooted and everything was good. I ran the Catalina installer, it eventually rebooted, I selected Boot macOS Install from (my drive) and it gave me the verbose readouts (still hadn’t taken out that argument). After a couple of minutes, it went to a black screen (no logo). I waited, and waited, and waited. At some point, it rebooted and brought me to Clover and I selected the install option again. It went to black screen (again no logo). I waited some more. After at least 30 mins, the cursor appeared on a black screen and I could move it, but nothing else. I did some searching and saw that you had suggested to someone else to shut down and either pull plug or hit switch on PS. I left it off for 10 secs or so and turned it on. No change.
I remembered discussions on the forum about a boot argument agdpmod=pikera, so I booted from my backup drive, mounted the efi from my boot drive, added the argument and saved the config. Then I realized there was an extra partition on my desktop, a data one, which I know from reading about Catalina. So it seems the install completed. Anyway, I tried rebooting from my boot drive and still no joy.
So, do you think this is still recoverable, or should I cut my losses and restore from backup? Speaking of restore, would I just create a new CCC job and reverse the drives, and include the script? Or should I just reverse the drives in a new job and manually copy from backup EFI to the boot EFI? Lastly, what do you think I did wrong? Did I need to update clover as well? Some make mention of WEG, Lilu and AppleALC, while others also mention updating clover. Thanks in advance and see all my components below, just in case.
