Do I have to enable Trim on WD Sn850x Black or is it on by default?
This SN770 costs more for 1TB but the speeds are much faster. Will work in a PCIe 3.0 M.2 slot.Ok so, it looks like for NvMe M.2 ssd users this is the best option at the moment
I'm probably going to use one of the above in my system.
Yes I just saw it too, it's on! They changed it's position and didn't catch it at once.My WD850 shows under system profiler as having TRIM SUPPORT: YES
Missed that. Thanks for the heads up. Added the WD to my Amazon list for later. This SN770 costs more for 1TB but the speeds are much faster. Will work in a PCIe 3.0 M.2 slot.
I would avoid the Crucial P1/P2. I believe even @CaseySJ said to avoid Crucial P2 drives. The P1's most likely use the same controller.
NOTE 2:
- Avoid Samsung NVMe SSDs due to incompatibility with trim that can lead to excessive boot times and reduced drive longevity. Crucial P2 NVMe SSDs (only P2 series) also suffer from trim incompatibility.
- WD SN750 and SN850 series are good choices, as are NVMe SSDs from Silicon Power and others. Refer to this post for more details.
If you want a lower cost 1TB NVMe, I can verify that these SN570s work without TRIM problems. Getting 3,200 MB/s read speeds too.Added the WD to my Amazon list for later.
macOS is increasingly reliant on AppleVTD. Additionally, the driver programming model is changing from IOKit to DriverKit.…
So, in conclusion, when I plug from the router Ethernet cables to the upper ports of my Designares, then freezes are starting to show up. When using below ports, I don't have freezes but sometimes network isn't working. Any help would be amazing...
UPDATE:
After a few hours of research I found out that my router is the mad man in the house! It's losing internet connection here and there and needs replacement as it seems. I'm not 100% sure though and need more testing when the new router comes. That again doesn't explain why the upper ethernet port is giving freezes when ethernet cable is connected.
