Hello, I've attempted to provide the requested details. Also sorting out a USB issue, but that doesn't belong here. I appreciate any/all help. Thanks in advance; please let me know if there's additional info required.
  1. Lost audio with Sierra 10.12.5 update. fiddled with it too much and lost codec and HDEF, everything. reformatted and reinstalled with Unibeast. Then patched using audio_CloverALC120 command
  2. OSX version 10.12.5, Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 Ultra, Intel i7 4.0GHz, 64gb RAM, GT 740 SC DDR3 Single Slot
  3. attached CloverALC
  4. Attached Reg
  5. attached
  6. none
  7. I couldn't find any records of this
  8. attached all three
  9. Chameleon not instaled
  10. attached
  11. no mic. speakers: Vizio 2.1 sound bar - connected to digital audio out (preferred if it can work) or green 3.5mm connector to R/W RCA plugs on rear of motherboard. In System Pref, I've selected digital out, internal speakers, and both line outs, with no success (changing inputs on speaker respectively)

selected digital out, internal speakers, and both line outs, with no success
IOReg shows audio is working; does not show any audio device selected
See Post #1/I. No Sound/1. Audio Outputs/1. Speakers
Run test as described, reply with new IOReg

@toleda, thank you! I've got sound now thru "green" internal speakers and digital audio out (though choppy, as it always has been). Best I can figure, the checking/unchecking mute may have been the missing step.

Of note, I also tried "simple" speakers and it worked first time. I had to do a factory reset of my Visio sound bar for the analog inputs to work. Not sure why, but happy it's working. Hope I can find as simple a solution to USB ;)

Thank you again!

Hi I was wondering if you could help. Here is error report

Motherboard-audio (back of case) works fine, occasionally doesn't work after sleep but fine 99% of time. Front panel audio doesn't work. In System preferences, when i plug mic or headphones in, nothing happens. Front panel works in windows, so I know it's connected properly, worked fine on el capitan, but did a restore of native HDA after upgrade to get it working again.

10.12.5, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5 TH Thunderbolt Motherboard, Updated BIOS last year, not sure number, Intel core i7 3770k 3.5GHz, EVGA Nvidea GTX 680 2GB Superclocked

I followed toleda's "before you install audio" and "No Audio Devices" guides to get audio working from green jack on motherboard (back of case)

I'm sorry not sure what "Console/All Messages/kernel Sound Assertions - select/Save Selection As:" is. I opened up Console app, clicked "All Messages" tab, but didn't see anything (and search didn't find anything) matching "kernel sound assertions" or any combination

no chameleon installed

Speakers working from green jack at back of case (motherboard) Logitech 2 piece w/ subwoofer

Headphones and Mic: Razer Kraken using included wire to split into red and green 3.5mm plugs, not working from front panel but working from back panel (both mic and headphones)

System preferences selection: Can't select in system preferences because nothing changes when I plug them into front panel. External speakers in green jack at back work through "internal speakers" option

Thanks in advance for your help!
Adam

That is the problem; front panel pin detect is not working, required for macOS audio.

It was working fine before updating to sierra, and works fine when I boot into windows. Any ideas how to fix it?

Not relevant
No audio differences between OS's
It is not software, leaves only hardware.

Thanks so much for your help toleda. I opened up the front panel and it was caked up with dust. It looked like some dust might have been bridging two of the wires (which explains some weird buzzing I was hearing before) Anyway, I gave it a good blow, and it's all working fine now. Thanks so much for narrowing it down for me.

Hi,
I'm quite a newbie in the mac field, I've successfully installed my hackintosh based onGigabyte Ga-H170n-wifi.
I've been able to activate the sound once and after reboot there is no sound.
the device is recognized, but there is no sound both from the mb and the fp, the mic that connected to mb is working.
I'm currently using 10.12.5
attached all the data I could get out from the machine hope you could help me.
10x
