The audio jacket works fine (not amazing quality) on Windows even on the front port output. So it's installed and is functional,
Not relevant.
Missed: Post #1:

Unsupported/Non-working Realtek ALC AppleHDA
  1. 100/200 Series/Intel High Definition Audio

Thanks Toleda.
I've now copied "SSDT-HDEF-HDAS-1.aml" to EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched.
Then, ran script. "audio_cloverALC-120_v1.0f1 3.command".
HDMI audio is working again now which is handy. No audio working still via headphones on motherboard green port or front panel.
When attempting to play music from iTunes, or other media like movies from VLC etc, media does not open/play, playhead does not move in timeline. When switching to HDMI audio, playback resumes as normal.

Yes. That is where you get the "copy" of the kext. A kext installer is required to install any kext.
Looks like Sierra has updated now to 10.12.5 on the Apple Store. Will this work, or should I download a 10.12.4 version again from another source to restore AppleHDA.kext from?

Hi,

I have been having a lot of problems getting my audio to work. After lots of attempts, I now get some audio devices show up in my sound preferences however no sound will play; YouTube videos constantly buffer and media files immediately stop playing after clicking play.

I originally installed the audio drivers through multibeast and used Voodoo but I backed this out because I only got high pitched hissing out of the audio ports. After having no luck with this thread, I used this thread (Post install / Audio section) to set audio up through HDMI and I have now successfully got audio working through display port only.

I then came across post #1498 by thomasbl83 in this thread who said "playhead does not move in timeline." which is exactly where I currently am. Reading Toleda's response, I restored my native AppleHDA.kext using this guide: https://github.com/toleda/audio_RealtekALC

Unfortunately I am still in the same position and I am out of ideas. I am assuming this is config related but I dont know where to look anymore.
