HP ProBook Installer 6.1: 4x30s and 4x40s support

HP ProBook Installer 6.1 (beta): Ivy bridge support

This was my first install so I may be misunderstanding something basic. I know that I am mixing new installers and an old OS. I now have a working installation of Snow Leopard on an HP ProBook 4530s Sandy Bridge

I installed using ProBookInstaller61b15.pkg but it failed until I unchecked SSDT. I unchecked SSDT because the install.log showed "board-id" trouble in the postinstall:

I pulled a DSDT using Sysrecuecd and I have patched and installed a dsdt.aml using maciASL. I have a lackluster geekbench of 1720. So what is the best tool to straighten out the SSDT? Thanks!

It looks like the iasl compiler has failed. Which version of SL do you use? Did you updated your SL to 10.6.8 before running the Installer? Did you followed this guide?

HP ProBook Installer 6.1 (beta): Ivy bridge support

I haven't looked recently whether 10.8.4 is that much larger, but given that it still fits on the same 8GB flash drive, I doubt it.

How much memory in the 4x40s? Might it be the sleepimage? Run ProBook Installer and do 'Sleep image fix'...

it was 8gb, now 16gb. would love to try 32gb, not sure if thats been tested anywhere else (i've searched youtube but no gold), would be extra awesome laptop.

You went off-topic there. I thought you were trying to figure why the install image was larger than you expect? Did you check sleepimage status?

The first thing I notice is that you may have installed with a system definition of "MacPro" on your laptop (should be using MacBookPro).

Best to follow the SL guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook-4530s/78905-guide-installing-snow-leopard-hp-probook.html

HP ProBook Installer 6.1 (beta): Ivy bridge support

If I remember right, there was a corruption issue with beta7 that caused issues with later versions. Have you tried to repair permissions & rebuild cache after updating? Have you tried repair permissions & rebuild cache, followed by installing the later versions? If none of those work, do a fresh install. Like I said beta7 caused issues because the installer was corrupt (something about duplicate IDs for a package) which caused problems for updates to later revisions. So if you ever had beta7 installed, there may be an issue with your system that you can't recover from. Best to do a fresh install if the techniques above can't fix it.

Prior to my previous post I had formatted and reinstalled going right to beta14 which was the latest available at the time with the same result. I then redownloaded the official 6 release from the archives and installed just the OSX support kexts, which in turn enabled my wireless card again and now shows the info below in the system report. Prior to installing the older support kexts its just blank.

Atheros 9280 !?! That explains everything: your card doesn't work, because in beta8 fanreset.dylib was reverted to its standard version (without the miniPCIe port activation code) and with this standard version, after you get the whitelist warning message, the port remains inactive. In order to use your card, now you should download the modified version of fanreset.dylib from here (the file with the white-list hack). Download it and replace your file in /Extra/modules, then reboot and on the next boot your card should be operational.

Good catch. How these people deal with the BIOS error/wait that is part of this I just don't understand...
