ALC898 Audio Installation on macOS Sierra.

Because without HDAEnabler in macOS Sierra the onboard sound card (Realtek ALC898) is not detected by system.

I followed this guide but "audio_cloverALC-120" says "No Audio Codec detected.", if there is no HDAEnabler.

The "audio_cloverALC-120_v1.0b0.command“ says EFI not found, and neither is clover.
Already ran multibeast & installed the clover EFI option- of course it doesn't work, and will not boot without the usb, and only boots without the EFI option.

Have you mounted the EFI?

I didn't know how to until I found this.
The scripts ran now, but they still don't work after reboot. No output devices found.

• Copy „HDAEnabler1.kext“ to /System/Library/Extensions/ (https://github.com/toleda/audio_kext_enabler)
• Repair kext files with Kext Wizard, file permissions have to be changed
• Reboot
• Check with DPCI Manager if „Realtek ALC898“ is detected

BTW this doesn't work either. DPCI manager doesn't detect it- and yes, I ran Kext Wizard.

After a lot of trial and error this is how it worked for me permanently.

• Copy „HDAEnabler1.kext“ to /System/Library/Extensions/ (https://github.com/toleda/audio_kext_enabler)
• Repair kext files with Kext Wizard, file permissions have to be changed
• Reboot
• Check with DPCI Manager if „Realtek ALC898“ is detected
• Open „audio_cloverALC-120_v1.0b0.command“ (https://github.com/toleda/audio_CloverALC)
• Confirm Realtek ALC898: y
• Clover Audio ID injection: y
• Use Audio ID: 1
• Reboot

Drstilpunkt, I tried the forum guide and it didn't work. ALC 898 was being detected by system (codec, card, etc) but no audio device appeared in System Prefs.
Now I followed your instructions and it did work. Thank you very much.

Only thing does not work is digital optical audio

For me audio_realtekALC-120.sh detects my ALC898 without any problem. Simply run the command and reboot, all analog input/output shows and works with volume control.
Audio was at default 1, didn't change anything in config.plist.

The only thing that does not work is digital optical.

This in on EVGA Z97 WiFi Stinger. 4790k+GTX980 installed with Web driver.

If analog audio devices show, optical/digital audio is working.
