    Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.9.4 / 10.9.5

Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.9.4 I'm going to wait until better tweaks and support is available for X99 because my current X79 system with just a sleeper overclock hits over 21002 in Geekbench. http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/733970

    Intel's Latest Extreme CPUs Launch - Haswell-E

From the benchmarks so far, it doesn't seem to be worth the upgrade from a 3930K system. In order for me to upgrade to a new 5930k, it will cost me $1000 just to get maybe 30% faster performance in some areas. All my main parts have to be changed out. CPU, mobo, and memory all have to be...

    [Success] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H i7-4770K GTX 650 Build

I think scratch build will be hard until Apple releases an update that recognizes the chipset and other devices. The reason it works when you transfer a working Haswell build is that the Z97 chipset is backwards compatible. If you don't have access to a previous gen build, why would you...

    [Success] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H i7-4770K GTX 650 Build

I've experienced some of the same frustrations early on and got stuck as well. Unibeast USB worked fine initially, OSX installed on fresh SSD, after reboot it would crash even with -x -v PCIRootUID=0 I got frustrated after 4-5 differen't restarts with various switches commonly used. My...

Thoughts on The Gigabyte BRIX Pro? Or Should Build a Mac Mini Deluxe!

While the Brix Pro is nice, the upgrade potential is low. I would go with a mini-ITX box over these BRIX because you can easily upgrade and swap parts over time. Brix Pro currently runs too hot and loud when demanding apps are running. With a Mini-ITX box you can install a better video card...

    [Success] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H i7-4770K GTX 650 Build

I'll be honest and tell you that I have not been able to get into Mavericks Setup with Unibeast. The only way I was able to get Mavericks working is that I cloned my working OSX 10.9.3 build from a previous hackintosh and simply boot off with that. If you have a graphics card it maybe a good...

    [Success] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H i7-4770K GTX 650 Build

I do see some of those messages, the sound assertion messages when the AC1150 driver wasn't installed. I will switch to verbose tonight and let you know. The build is super solid so far, I ran a geekbench and it doesn't seem to be faster nor slower than a Z87 board which is good I suppose...

    [Success] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H i7-4770K GTX 650 Build

Yes, this is all working like my prior build since the CPU is the same. The only thing I noticed different is the SATA controller shows as Generic AHCI controller instead of Intel Series 6

    Steam streaming build

Imo, I would just build a low powered Steam box running Linux and call it a day. The concept of the Steam box is small form factor and low power while keeping a high end gaming PC to handle the game rendering.

    [Success] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H i7-4770K GTX 650 Build

I would clear out all non-Apple ktexts and then re-run Multibeast with all of the correct drivers selected. Another thing to check is whether your audio device is enabled in BIOS. Clear your BIOS settings and load optimized 1st then go and change settings,

    [Success] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H i7-4770K GTX 650 Build

Sleep seems to be working. I was able to put the system to sleep and wake it up with no issues. Currently using Crucial Sport 1600MHZ. I think the UD3H should be just fine. The reason I got the UD5H because that was the only model available and I don't want to buy the Z97X-Gaming which...

    [Success] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H i7-4770K GTX 650 Build

My previous setup includes: Intel Core i7 4770K Gigabyte Z87X-D3H EVGA GTX 650 16GB DDR3 1600mhz memory Samsung 840 Pro - 512GB When I saw the new Z97X-UD5H motherboard, really fell in love with the gold theme. I basically swapped out the old motherboard and replaced it with this...

    CustoMac Nano: Prebuilt Micro PC

Article: CustoMac Nano: Prebuilt Micro PC I don't know how Intel and Gigabyte get away with selling just the CPU and a small mobo and case for over $500+ for an i5/i7 models when a laptop with the same processor is going for $500-600.

Update Your Mavericks App to 10.9.2

Apple would only benefit if more people use their OS without buying their hardware. People like me even though I can afford their hardware would never buy their current lineup because they don't offer a custom mid-range model. It's either too low end or too pricey highend stuff like MacPro. My...

Gigabyte BRIX Pro GB-BXi7-4770R (Steam Machine)

I loved the idea of this box but it failed on execution. It's sort of like the old Xbox 360, loud and warm. I thought this would be a 3rd gen NUC and they would got the kinks figured out but it's still a very poor design. Maybe because Haswell runs so hot due to the integrated GPU. Maybe...

Guide to Installing Mavericks on HP Probook

Installing Maverick on the HP Probook is pretty easy, it was initially tricky because the setup seems to hang initially but just takes awhile to display. I think Post#1, the guide is good but could use some organization to make it easier to read and take all the info in. I built the...

In Depth: Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7970 OC

Article: In Depth: Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7970 OC Nvidia cards are a joke when it comes to serious graphics apps. When you look at the heavy Compute and OpenCL benches, even the Titan is still no match for even a HD 7850. HD7970 is nearly 2x the speed of 1x7870 with those workloads...
