My previous setup includes:

Intel Core i7 4770K
Gigabyte Z87X-D3H
EVGA GTX 650
16GB DDR3 1600mhz memory
Samsung 840 Pro - 512GB

When I saw the new Z97X-UD5H motherboard, really fell in love with the gold theme.

I basically swapped out the old motherboard and replaced it with this brand new one.

At 1st I tried to boot with -x -v and it would just get stuck repeatedly. Then I decided, what the heck just let it boot on it's own with no switches.

Viola, it went straight into the boot screen. The only thing I needed to update really was the Audio driver.

The system is working stable and solid all day long and includes posting on this forum too.

Currently running OSX 10.9.3

Thank you very much for the report !

Which RAM do you use, please?

Have you tried to install 32 GB RAM ?

Is Power Management working?

Hey,

I'm hesitating to buy a GA-Z97X-UD5H or GA-Z97X-UD3H.

Does your Audio works well on OSX? The Audio of GA-Z97X-UD3H seems not work in other posts. Both UD5H and UD3H use the same Audio Chip: ALC 1150.

Does the Killer Ethernet work? Or only Intel Ethernet work?

Thanks.

Sleep seems to be working. I was able to put the system to sleep and wake it up with no issues.

Currently using Crucial Sport 1600MHZ.

I think the UD3H should be just fine. The reason I got the UD5H because that was the only model available and I don't want to buy the Z97X-Gaming which has the Realtek NIC. Both the UD5H and UD3H has the Intel NIC but the UD5H has the Killer NIC.

The Killer NIC doesn't work, I'm not sure if there's a driver but the Intel detected fine and works great.

Audio works great after I ran Multibeast and installed the ALC 1150 driver.

Overall, pretty please with the build. The main thing is the UD5H is a premium board, it has LED digital diagnostic read and it includes 4 additional Marvell SATA ports great for running RAID.

Next upgrade will most likely be 2xSSD in RAID 0.

Just got the Memo . . . Belay my last.

Thank you for making this report. Was there a specific reason for using 10.9.3 in the build?

Thank you for your reply. Only UD3H is available here. I think I will wait for the UD5H.

How did you "update your Audio driver" ?? I'm running a Z97X-UD3H and I can't seem to get the Audio working. I'm getting a LOT of Sound assertions and it won't boot after that. Only way around it is by going into single user mode and deleting/moving AppleHDA.kext. Any ideas?

Thanks

I would clear out all non-Apple ktexts and then re-run Multibeast with all of the correct drivers selected. Another thing to check is whether your audio device is enabled in BIOS. Clear your BIOS settings and load optimized 1st then go and change settings,

Is Powermanagement working for you ? C / PStates ?

Yes, this is all working like my prior build since the CPU is the same.

The only thing I noticed different is the SATA controller shows as Generic AHCI controller instead of Intel Series 6
