The BIOS configuration in Post 1 will work fine for Windows.

What display are you using? Which display output is it connected to?

Flip the power supply switch to OFF for a minute. Then turn it back on.
With your Windows installer USB stick in a USB2 port on the rear of the computer, exactly what happens when you start up the computer?

On X299 systems we need to change the PCI paths in the SSDT. To adapt the SSDT we will need:
  • IOReg file (IORegistryExplorer --> File --> Save As...)
  • System DSDT (MaciASL --> File --> New from ACPI --> DSDT)
Thanks for the response. here are the files you requested.

Please try the attached SSDT (in combination with SSDT-DTPG.aml). After installing and rebooting, please post IOReg file again (IORegistryExplorer --> File --> Save As...).

Apple Pro Display XDR SUCCESS!! with Gigabyte Designare Z390, Catalina 10.15.7, OC Radeon 5700 XT with DP 1.4 Cable from Radeon DP out to the DP input on the Designare and a $15, 2m cable (link below) from the TB3 port on the Designare to the Apple Pro Display XDR. I see the boot screen and OC picker and most of the progress bar, then the display goes black for a while, and then it comes back. Full-resolution: 6016x3384. Screen brightness is controllable via Apple keyboard function keys. (Note: the same setup does not work with Apple's Pro Display Cable).

Update #1: I tried Z490 Vision D + Big Sur and it is not reliable.

I tried this with a Gigabyte Z490 Vision D, Big Sur 11.1, OC 0.6.5, and a Radeon 5700XT, and i9-10850K, (also with a DP 1.4 Cable from the Vega VII to the motherboard DisplayPort input). The Z490 with Big Sur is not as reliable with the Apple Pro Display XDR. Sometimes the display is not live on startup. More debugging is needed. I have switched back to Gigabyte Designare Z390, Catalina 10.15.7, OC, & Radeon 5700 XT as my daily driver.

Update #2:
More Details for anyone else trying to reproduce this on Z390 + OC + Catalina: I've found that I need a second monitor on initial boot from power off for the system to come up reliably. After that, only the Pro Display XDR is needed on soft reboots (not power cycles). With just the Pro Display XDR on a reboot, I can see the BIOS screen and OC picker.

Here is new IOReg . Thanks.
Now I'm entirely confused...
  • In the first IOReg, your Thunderbolt card is installed in SL01 and Thunderbolt bus has not been activated (card has not been flashed).
  • In the second IOReg, your Thunderbolt card has moved to slot PEGP and Thunderbolt bus has magically been activated.
  • Did you flash the card just now and move it to another slot?

I know this situation. I have used this motherboard before. That's it. I hope I can help him.

Oh Sorry my bad. The first ioreg I had re-flashed the original firmware. The second time around is the with the flashed firmware with the Thunderbolt card in the same slot and with the SSDT you sent me via DTPG. I am a bit confused too as you can see the layout changes. But why? Thanks

Edit: Here is IOReg now with Thunderbolt Bus but no SSDT.

I tried Your SSDT, and it seems to work. Here are screen shots and IOReg. Thanks a lot. Now I have to figure out how to get sleep working with Thunderbolt.
