(Near) Perfect High Sierra Setup on Z77x-UD5H / Ivy Bridge i5 / RX 560

I read up recently on the bios and learned that if I want to later-on add an NVME boot drive we have to upgrade to the latest F16j beta bios. But at least we have it built into the bios unlike some other Z77 boards. I have it downloaded and ready to go when I see a hole in my workload.
So we can make an MVMe drive work straight into the PCIex16 or other slot without an adapter?

I had read that in a few places a few weeks ago, but, I have yet to do it myself. I tried finding a web page to point you to and found more that said you can't and barely any mention of anyone doing it successfully as a boot drive.

@djcoma just upgraded to f16j and can not recognise any boot drive. The OS X boot drive It is on the Marvell GSata port. Using all the bios settings from your linked guide. Any recommendations?
I just upgraded to F16j last night and am still not done setting things up. I did a fresh install of Mojave on a single, new drive, unplugging all the other drives. I have my drive hooked upto one of the black mobo Sata connectors and that's working great.

SUCCESS: I unplugged all drives and left the Bootable SSD in the Marvel SATA port and did a full long hold press of the CMOS button without removing the battery. I followed @coscos 's bios setup link over at InsanlyMac ( https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/288829-guide-gigabyte-z77x-ud5h-clover-uefi-installtweak-guide) and now have a faster, fully-working Sierra. It even fixed a shutdown problem where it would start up again and pumps out full-res 1920x1080 from post, where before it was on some lower resolution. Now to try to upgrade to High-Sierra. I have to stick to that until I upgrade the GFX to AMD as I'm still on NVIDA. Thanks!

Sorry for the slow response. Glad you were able to get it working!

I found the same. I am going to upgrade the SSD in my MacBook Pro to a Sabrent Rocket NVME drive. I’m thinking about picking up a PCI-E adapter to tinker with it in my hackintosh before putting it in my MacBook Pro to see if I can get it working in the hack.

Hey all, I'm thankful for finding this thread! When I update from El Cap to Mojave - since I already have a working clover Bootlaoder will this work:
1. Backup HD and EFI
2. Update Clover using the dids pkg
3. Wipe HD
4. Install MacOS Mojave
5. If any problems arise copy kexts from EFI folder on page 1 here to EFI?

I can't say. What's your GFX card?

Just upgraded to Mojave with your EFI files. Thx a lot Coscos
All seems to work unless network interfaces.
I'm now Trying to make my good old original apple atheros 5416 to work. Found a post about all atheros working but no luck for now. Still investigating...
