Same problem only on a UD5H with ALC898, using the black jack fixes this problem for me as well.

When hiccups occur, in the Audio/MIDI configuration you can see that the name of the source changes from "internal speakers" to "headphones" for half a sec. It's like the OS is mistakenly thinking you are plugging and unplugging headphones, and changing the volume adjustment accordingly (I think OS X manages different volume settings for either headphones or internal speakers). This happens randomly. It gets WAY worse after waking from sleep.

If you use one of the plugs labeled as "line output" the problem won't occur, but you may get noise in the audio after a while.

I didn't want to install Voodoo, so I'm using the "line output" workaround for now. It's a good thing that I have a 2.1 setup

Same issue; I have i7 4770K on GA-Z87X-UD5H mobo. If I use green output, designated by Gigabyte as default line out I get the choppiness. Not on the black "rear speaker" output. And not on the headphone jack on the case, which attaches to a separate header of course.

And I suspect people are on to something with the headphone/line out interaction. If I go in Audio Devices in Audio Midi Setup, select what is the "built in Output" (shows as the "internal speakers" in Sound Prefs) I can watch the "Source" in the pane jump back and forth from "headphone" to "Internal Speakers" occasionally, even with no sound playing. Doesn't happen on any of the other outputs (although I have no controls on built in digital output).

If I DO plug in headphones on the case jack for headphones, the jumping back and forth stops.

So, in sum, with "built-in line output" aka "internal speakers" using the green line-out/front speaker jack on this board (sounds similar to others) I get the headphone/speaker random oscillation.

EDIT: I wonder if the case makes a difference; i.e. maybe something about the headphone connection at the front of the case. I'm using a NZXT H2.

Have NO idea what to do about it. Using the ALC898 and HDAEnabler from MultiBeast 6.01.

I installed IORegistryService to send you the file after my system audio started skipping, but it stopped skipping after opening the IOService app...

Before it was skipping like every two minutes...

It broke again. When I stress the system, like working in Photoshop, it is when it happens. If I'm just browsing the Internet it does not skip...

It fixes itself as soon as I change any audio settings, like if I change the sample rate or bit depth.

I hope you can help us out. I attached my file.

I have the exact same problem

Tried a couple of voodoos but it didn't work.
Fixed it using ALC115, the output has some low noise, but zero interruptions.
Now I can see all outputs with detail. Green, Black, Gray, Pink, etc...
The only strange thing is that it lets me use from 44.1k to 192k in 16 and 24 bit.
Ah, and that it detects 4 HDMI devices, and I just have a single video card with 2 ports.
Try it and let me know if anyone has a better option.
