[Guide] HP Elite 8300 & 6300 Pro (all form factors) using Clover UEFI hotpatch

Hello everyone!
I was using HP 8300 with Mac OS on it for quite a long time.
Would like to share my experience with installing macOS Monterey 12.5.1 on it recently.
My setup is i7-3770 with GeForce GT710 1GB.

What I did:
  1. I took latest OpenCore (0.8.3) with example config from OpenCore GitHub.
  2. I've moved all ACPI files I have from my BigSur config and add them to this fresh Config.plist.
  3. I've added latest kext and choose driver files I need and modified Config.plist accordingly.
  4. Created install USB with 12.5.1 MacOS and this EFI folder.
  5. Install the MacOS from USD on SSD.
  6. After install I've added EFI to my SSD.
  7. Then I disabled SIP from recovery mode by using two commands:
    csrutil disable
    csrutil authenticated-root disable
(I've tried "toggle SIP" OpenCore entry and modifing Config.plist but it doesn't work for me)
  8. Then I installed Kepler patch using OpenCoreLegacyPatcher (you could do it directly with https://github.com/chris1111/Geforce-Kepler-patcher but I find it easier to do with OpenCore patcher)
  9. Next small tweaks, but overall at this moment system is really usable and I don't have problems with it.
So far using it for couple of days and it works like a charm.
I'm attaching EFI folder for someone interested in my setup.

I think according to OpenCore doc the only thing you need to change is to replace "PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0) -> AAPL,ig-platform-id" parameter value to "0A006601".

Here is more info https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/config.plist/ivy-bridge.html#deviceproperties

Try this out and let us know how it went.

i ve just replaced my EFI with yours and everything works well without change anything... I think

juste two issues for me so far, first I can't open the config plist with ProperTree, it says "unexpected element at line 228"

and the second it that the OpenCore Gui is not showing at booting just normal text boot.

anyways thank you for your EFI

Don't forget to enter your own unique serials into Platform Info -> Generic section of your config.plist.

Already did with GenSMBIOS app and textedit, but I can't open the config plist with ProperTree app, it show an error that says unexpected element at line 228.

question please, witch SMBIOS is better for the 8300 SFF, iMac 13,2 or iMacPro1,1 (am on latest macOS Monterey)

which SMBIOS is better for the 8300 SFF, iMac 13,2 or iMacPro1,1 (am on latest macOS Monterey)
13,2 isn't even supported by Monterey so you can't use it. iMac 17,1 is probably the oldest iMac SMBIOS that could be used with your HP 8300. If iMP 1,1 works you could use that as well.

Hello Odisei,

i have exactly the same configuration as you, I wanted to test your EFI folder, but when I come to edit the config.plist ProperTree give me an error that says : "unexpected element at line 228" tried to modify with OCAuxiliaryTools, also it give me an error when I try to open the config.plist : "invalid plist file"...

Any idea to fix this issue please ? have you more tweaked your OpenCore config since that ?

Thank you for the assistance.

@odisei or anyone else running the 6300 with a 710

anyone able to play back 4k? DRM?

I have the 6300 with a i3-2120 yeah I know don’t snicker

I am having to use it to run Mojave for some minor but important 32bit app’s and with OC 8.4 and @Sniki oc folder all is working great with both imacpro (since it is dgpu only per dortania) and iMac 13,2. Sleep wake audio and geekbench performance almost equal and cpu power management fine.

just no 4k
also crashes both geekbench and other graphics benches when trying to run opencl.

regular 1080 video/audio fine

video proc is reporting both codecs as negative

I am stumped.
