Maybe, but not for the same reasons.

A sad comparison.

I assumed we all liked macOS here?
I like it but I have to admit its flaws that will not be addressed at WWDC, such as gaming.

iOS and macOS have both been compared to a walled garden which is the most accurate. Comparing them to a prison is a real stretch. Apple isn't forcing anyone to use their OS. No one is locked in and unable to leave if they want to. The key to open the door and leave is always in the end users' hands.

In reality the latest iOS and macOS have the best security and much better privacy than Windows ever will. Linux is probably number one for privacy, they collect the least amount of user info. At least Apple doesn't sell any info they collect to third parties the way Google and MS do.

Wondering if this would save more gaming studios...

I don't know... But I know that Electronic Arts has a lot of studios under their wings. But it's going to be a tough deal to swing with an anti-business administration in office and they also have to consider the implications it may have on their ongoing legal battle with Epic Games.

On the other hand, after decades of trying to convince studios to develop for macOS with little to no success, I feel it's about time they took matters in to their own hands, especially now that they can afford to do so. It would be an important addition for their Apple One/Apple Arcade subscription ambitions. They can't expect large scale adoption with lackluster titles. Imagine having EA exclusives like Madden Football... It would be a huge game changer.

Nintendo, it's been mooted before when Apple met Nintendo at WWDC a few years ago. Nintendo had launched the DS and Apple needed some help with its iPhone. If Apple bought Nintendo that would be a great acquisition.

Nintendo is a leader in the gaming industry so an acquisition is not required.
