[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Maybe it’s your fans or your case? Nothing customized via Windows Gigabyte app?
it becomes even stranger.... I also tried F9g. Same Problem. I was on f9b beforehand btw. Even in Windows I cant change the fan speed via Argus Monitor since I updated the bios. This works tho if I don't touch anything at smartfan in bios.

My fans are directly controlled by the mainboard. I got no fan controller and I dont use the gigabyte app in windows. :/

Well, disabling FanStop did it to me... whenever it was supposed to stop the fans it did spin them up....

** Custom BIOS F9i with Latest Intel Micro Code, 0xEA **
Credit: @Elias64Fr

Elias has done it again! He has inserted the latest Intel Coffee Lake microcode from Apple's most recent firmware update (part of Big Sur 11.4) into the Gigabyte Z390 Designare F9i BIOS. The latest microcode is version 0xEA and applies to the CPUID 0906 family of 8th and 9th generation Intel Core processors.

Even though the new microcode was released with Big Sur 11.4, it applies to the Intel processor itself and not to any particular operating system. All versions of macOS, Windows, Linux, etc. are compatible.

The resulting file is called Z390DESI_modMC_01052021_0906_Rev_0xEA.F9i, and it's attached below.

As always, the decision to use or not use this BIOS is up to you. It is entirely optional. I have tested the new BIOS for half a day now with no issues.

Quite interesting to say the least. No traces of this Microcode when searching around the web. I guess it will eventually shows up for other OS’es and vendor BIOS’s.

Yeah, pretty strange. Especially since it behaved this way even with the official release.

@jiffyslot , any update for your BIOS flashing problem? Still freezing in the process?
After 3 freezes while trying to update the BIOS using Q-Flash, I'm going to wait.

Regarding the isues people are having with the fan setup/values changing: I always set my fan curves manually -and you need to exit the BIOS Fan Control panel and go back in and double check because the slope can get yanked around for some reason.

TLDR: I set my fan curves manually so that at the average operating temp, the RPMs will be synchronized as much as possible to prevent additional acoustic noise from beat frequencies and/or chord tones resulting from the different RPMs from two or more fans.
I have a quiet Fractal case, but acoustic noise is additive.

@CaseySJ, Hi Casey,

My Hack always wakes up automatically halfway through sleep. After checking the "Wake Reason", the question mark "?" is displayed.

I used Hackintool to check the system log and found that Thunderbolt HAL might be the cause of the wakeup?

Code:
2021-05-30 11:32:26.009006+0800 0x75       Default     0x0                  0      0    kernel: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ?
2021-05-30 11:32:26.009007+0800 0x75       Default     0x0                  0      0    kernel: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ?
2021-05-30 11:34:19.770395+0800 0x75       Default     0x0                  0      0    kernel: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ?

After activating the Thunderbolt Bus, there is still a problem with sleep, and it becomes awakened immediately after falling asleep (0D/6D SSDT has been used, which should not be related to USB)

This is my system log. Please take the time to check it out. This is a problem that has bothered me for a long time.

Thank you for your contribution to the community!

:crazy: I was so stupid. It went to sleep again about 1 minute after it was automatically awakened. Now the problem is solved. I'm sorry to disturb you.

@brousseau6933
you can find informations about new microcodes on win-raid forum (posts #177 and #1) :)

Same as included on Apple firmware :
