I read post 1 and had a successful Catalina install with clover— but having problem doing a direct update from Catalina to Big Sur. Can I just do a clean install with Big Sur but follow the steps with open core ?
Also would I need to do all the clover adjustments and configurations or will open core be easier?

What’s the best method ?

actually no, @CaseySJ recommended that its only cosmetic in that it helps with geekbench but not actual real work.
