[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

my network is an iphone, chromecast and google homes and my hackintosh running mac/windows. So as far as i know no jumbo frames. the ethernet port is set to auto under hardware.
Couple of follow-ups:
  • I'm not familiar with SSDT-ARPT.aml (in CLOVER/ACPI/patched). Can you post that file here?
  • Are you using SpeedTest to measure Ethernet and WiFi speeds?

I got the file from you guide, under miscellaneous for the T9E AC1900. For testing speed i am using speedtest.net, when you google speed test, and fast.com. also comparing website loads and downloading the same file on both OS. these speed where the average between the various speedtest sites.
Hackintosh Ethernet Speed - 8Mbps/18.6Mbps
Hackintosh WiFi Speed - 12Mbps/11Mbps
Windows Ethernet Speed - 60Mbps/10Mbps
Windows WiFi Speed - 200Mbps/306Mbps

But I may have fixed it. Both wifi and ethernet are a lot faster. Close to the windows speed. In clover under system parameters, inject kext was set to detect. But i read another post about installing kexts and it said to have that set to Yes. I couldn't find another info about that on your guide so I tried it and now my speeds are better.

@CaseySJ Hehehe...

I plugged in an old Lacie TB1 drive using an Apple TB2 -> adapter.

It worked from cold boot. :banghead:

I tried 3 different Thunderbolt 3 cables from cold boot to the Thunderbolt 3 dock. Nothing.

Now I'm going to try this with the Macbook separate from the Hackintosh. I think it's the dock.

It might need a firmware update, or a swift chuck out of the window. But I THINK ... and I hope I'm not being presumptious ... I THINK my TB3 stuff is SOLVED.

Unless, getting TB1 to kick in from cold boot is much easier than TB3.... but this seems unlikely.

Here was my clue...... when I unplugged the dock, I was trying Target Disk mode with my Macbook plugged into the Titan Ridge at the time.

When I booted the Hackintosh, the battery chimed on the Macbook which tells me 'wait a minute, the card IS sending power on boot ....'

Side-side-note, I can't get Target Disk Mode to work on my Macbook (holding T at boot).... inputting the password when it prompted on the Hackintosh did nothing for me. It works over Local Node networking, but not actual Target Disk mode. Gotta investigate that next....

For now, I'm going to attempt to shut down this Macbook Pro. Close the lid, plug in the dock, open the lid- then see what happens lol

@CaseySJ well that was unexpected. As soon as you touch the power button on the Mac the dock turns on. Hmmmmm ... this sounds BIOS related now...

Setting System Parameters to Detect is actually the recommended setting. Because your /Library/Extensions folder does not contain any Hackintosh kexts, this parameter has no effect. It works like this:
  • If set to detect, Clover checks (or detects) whether FakeSMC or VirtualSMC exists in /Library/Extensions. If either one exists there, then none of the kexts in CLOVER/kexts/Other is injected. But if neither FakeSMC nor VirtualSMC exists there, then all kexts in CLOVER/kexts/Other are injected.
    • This is why I asked for a screenshot of /Library/Extensions in my first reply.
  • Setting it to yes has the same effect as detect when neither FakeSMC nor VirtualSMC is present in /Library/Extensions.

I accidentally updated Clover to an incompatible version. I think I installed a version for Big Slur and not Catalina. I got Catalina 10.15.7 installed and when I shut down and restarted I got an error saying, "Cannot find config.plist/Quirks" "A fatal error happened. System halted." I tried using a Clover boot loader from a USB backup and no luck... this is why I was afraid of updating :(

I have not installed any extra kext to the library folder, just the EFI drive in the other folder. I what the different settings did and I thought the same thing, that detect should work as you say. But my internet (ethernet/wifi) work a lot better with it on yes. So im not sure what happened. Should i change it back to detect or leave it on Yes?

Several questions and requests:
  • Are you running Mojave or Catalina?
  • Clover or OpenCore?
  • With the Bluetooth data cable connected to F_USB (internal header) please run IORegistryExplorer and select File --> Save As..., then post the saved file.
  • Which USB port mapping file are you using?
    • USBPorts.kext?
    • SSDT-UIAC-DESIGNARE-Z390-V7.aml?
    • Please post the USB port mapping file.
hello

To switch to AMD GPU we can just install the AMD GPU and move the video cable to the AMD GPU.
  • Then in BIOS Setup change Initial Display Output to PCIe 1 Slot.
Next, we should change Platform ID to 0x3E980003 (iGPU enabled, but in headless mode). If you can post your config.plist I'll modify it (but remove serial numbers from SMBIOS section before posting -- be sure to make a backup of the config.plist before modifying it).

I tried to do it myself, it did not work. JPG not opened.
I would appreciate it.

EDIT:
It works. Should have forced "Enable" in the BIOS instead of "AUTO".

Question: How can I check that everything is working correctly now? JPG works. But maybe something else?

Okay. So I followed this guide all over again to create a new USB boot. I got back into my Catalina drive, installed an earlier version of Clover and looks like I am back up and running. However, the installer for the 10.15.7 install is still appearing on the boot screen (see screenshot) any ideas how to get rid of this as I’m running 10.15.7
