[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Is the power patch "pointing" only at the HS/SS ports on the front and missing the rear ports? Or is the patch supposed to be applying high power to every HS/SS port possible?
It's supposed to be generic to all USB ports.

After some more experimenting I've found that fast charging is available on the two red USB 3.1 ports as well. It's *not* working on the two yellow and two blue ports (HS07/SS07). The weird thing is that when connecting an actual USB 3.0 device (e.g. an HDD) it gets the proper 900 mA. It's only USB 2.0 devices (like the Lightning cable for an iPhone) that are restricted to 500 mA. In IOReg all ports are listed as supplying up to 900 mA, including HS07.

Adding SSDT-EC-USBX.aml doesn't make a difference, as expected.

Just followed the Catalina Mini Guide, now have a hackintosh running perfectly on its first try (commissioned Built for a fellow photographer/videographer)

have a few things to refine, like static coming up on my screen during a restart and a few static screen boots if i'm trying to access BIOS, my only other issue is inability to use the 630 IGPU from motherboard HDMI, but im sure that can be resolved / its not needed with my parts

but apart from that, sound and everything is perfect

Here is the list of parts working without any extra steps needed

Gigabyte Designare Z390
Refine R6 USB C case
I9 9900ks
64GB 3200mhz Corsair ram (4x16)
Shappire Pulse RX 5700 XT 8GB
Evo Plus 1tb m.2 (i did a firmware update via this built in windows pre installing OSX)
WD 4tb Black

Wifi card by WIFIOSX is coming in the mail this week, so will test everything else then but the 2 LAN ports work fine
The iGPU is configured in headless mode by default so the on-board video ports are disabled. We don't recommend using iGPU for driving a display when a discrete GPU is installed.

Hi all,
Happy new year !

I successfully have a full view of thunderbolt under Ioreg including IOThunderboltLocalNode and IOThunderboltPort

Under BIOS, I don't have GPIO3ForcePwr but I activate thunderbolt controller under the SSDT-TBT with TBFP method.

Asus Maximus IX have only one thunderbolt port, this is why there is one ThunderboltIPport

Very interesting! Some specific details please:
  • Are you using Asus Maximux IX Z270 motherboard? Is it the Extreme or Apex?
  • Did you create SSDT-TBT and TBFP (Thunderbolt Force Power) following the Osy86 guide?
  • Can you tell us the value of Device-ID under "RP01 --> DSB0" or "RP01 --> UPSB"?

Asus Maximus IX Z270 is Extreme model.

SSDT-TBT is the Osy86 with some modifications, device-id of the DSB0 is 15D3 and NHI0 is 15D2 (Alpine ridge v2).

I also have used another SSDT (SSDT TBT modified to be compatible with the laptop DSDT) on an ASUS Zenbook laptop. It work great with 2 Thunderbolt ports!

I just checked, and indeed HS07 is a USB2 hub with low power (500mA) when charging my iPad, according to IOReg & System Info (the orange ports). The Red port (HS04) charge with 900 mA according to IOReg/System Info.

Indeed, it seems to charge faster on the red port.

Using SSDT-EC, EC device is implemented.

Can this be fixed?

I plan to experiment with this when I get back from vacation. Are you able to connect another Mac via a Thunderbolt 3 cable?
