Alrighty, so I've been at it for a bit now tweaking and testing things.Because of limitations in USB power delivery, we should use powered hubs if we’re attaching a moderately large number of devices, particularly if they are daisy-chained. Also, all USB devices on a hub share the bandwidth of a single USB port, and that port can become saturated if enough devices transmit enough data concurrently.
The output from IORegistryExplorer can show us the USB complexity. Simply run this app and select “File —> Save As...” and upload the saved file.
I needed to update some USB-releated files and settings that I missed from dragging my clover/kexts settings through multiple OS upgrades. Right now my USB seems to be working perfectly, so that's solved - user error.
I tried a BIOS downgrade from F8 to F7 but got the same thunderbolt 3 with UAD Apollo/Satellite audio gear issues. F7 seemed to also be a little slower on system performance benchmarks with the recommended default BIOS settings/tweaks. I wondered if F6 would make a difference, but got fed up with trying (ha) and went back to F8. I'm going to live with it until UAD drivers are updated and fully Catalina qualified and see if things change. Fingers crossed.
Thanks once again for all your help on this!
