The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Or am I missing something?
NvmExpressDXE.efi ? That's required for the Optiplex 7020/9020 that is the topic of this thread. Don't think it's needed with Z390 boards. You should post for help in a related thread.

NvmExpressDXE.efi is in the drivers64UEFI folder and seems to work; I can boot from an NVME drive when I also have apfs.efi in the folder, but not when apfs.efi is not there. I've attached my folder.

Sorry, I've added my OptiMac 9020MT 4570 to my profile but it isn't showing up in my build list. I'll work on it.

I use HFSPlus.efi instead of VboxHFS.efi, try deleting Vbox and replace it with HFSPlus.efi. I've never needed apfs.efi in that drivers64UEFI folder.

I've also experimented with using an NVME boot drive with limited success. Clover seems to refuse to see an APFS-formatted NVME drive as bootable and doesn't display it in the boot menu, when I've cloned it from a viable SSD installation. Clover also fails to see the NVME drive during a Mojave install AFTER it has been formatted APFS. Clover WILL see the NVME drive during a Mojave install if I've formatted it HFS, and will proceed with the installation until the second reboot (after it has been formatted APFS), where Clover again fails to see it

I've used a number of different versions of ApfsDriverLoader-64.efi in the drivers64UEFI folder without success. I was finally successful (kind of) by adding apfs.efi to the folder, but I get errors on boot, after which all seems ok.

Is there an issue with ApfsDriverLoader-64.efi not properly loading apfs.efi? Or am I missing something?

Hi. I have an NVMe with Catalina installed and have never experienced Clover not seeing an NVMe. Can I ask where you have Clover installed?.

I read the thread about using HFSPlus.efi, and I tried it without success. I've tried it with and without Vbox as well. None of it made a difference. It truly acts like apfs.efi isn't being called by ApfsDriverLoader-64.efi.
I've tried a WD Blue 1tb NVME, and an HP 920 250gb NVME. Both behave the same way.
Clover is installed in a 16gb SSD that works to boot everything I've thrown at it, as long as it isn't formatted APFS.
I've tried Clover 4920? from unibeast, and I'm now using 4961 from tonymacx downloads. I'm using 5071 in my Z390 builds, and I'm comfortable with the needed driver folder changes. I may try a newer version in the 9020 to see if it helps.

@BuzzMcFlurp And also which version of Clover. What brand and model of NVME ?

I had quite a few similar sounding issues with my machine picking up the NVME, I believe my issue came down to the fact I was using the latest version of Clover, but trying to add the files from this post. Anyway after I got everything matching it just worked.

This is the adjustable version and actually costs less than the non-adjustable $299 version (UL500) in post #1. Has great color and looks excellent. About as close as you can get to an iMac display in a stand alone. A good long term investment. Price is not much more than a similar 27" 1440p monitor.
