[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey again, I have a problem that I cannot explain. I had a success installation. My issue is that I'm trying to install apps and some of them are crashing while I'm trying to open them. For example FCPX 10.4.6 is crashing. I downloaded it again from App Store and still is crashing. I tried from the same file on my main system with 9900k and it works fine. Is there any chance the SMBIOS which is 19.1 to have issues with i5-9600k? Strange things happen today..!
Hi, have you checked this spoiler on the firt post of this thread/guide?

Here's what's going on with my disks (I installed Windows 10 on a separate SSD (disk1) and Ubuntu Linux on a separate HDD (disk3) before installing macOS, and I also have another HDD for macOS data (disk4)):
...
This listing is very helpful. It shows that there is in fact no "macOS Install" volume inside the synthesized APFS Container (disk2).

So where is that option coming from? One possible answer is NVRAM. Try the following:
  • Reboot.
  • At the Clover Boot Menu, press F1 to show list of commands.
  • Press the Function Key that clears NVRAM (is it F11)?
  • Then reboot again to see whether that entry disappears.
If this also fails, try reseting CMOS by shorting the two pins as described in the Gigabyte user manual. Use a flathead screwdriver and be careful, but not afraid!

Hopefully this is the well known problem where Final Cut Pro and iMovie, among others, crash on launch. The solution is to set Platform ID to headless (0x3E980003) as described here:
Please give that a try. We also need to uncheck Inject Intel from Clover Configurator --> Graphics.

It's OK haha! I was just trying to free you up some time by answering.

Cheers!

(Thanks for the answers on the sleep question. I actually should buy an UPS soon. It's just that it's such a boring component, isn't it? haha!)

Thank you for your guide. My graphic fan does not whirl after entering the system.I folllow all your guide and use SSDT-Z390-VEGA64.aml to replace SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-RX580-V2.aml . so how to solve this issue?

I just successfully booted using a new Clover Memory Manager, named MemoryFix.efi. It replaces AptioMemoryFix. I downloaded from an adjacent X299 thread here. (Thanks mm2margaret!)

I was able to boot using latest Clover with iGPU enabled with SMBIOS of iMac19,1. Slide was not present as a Clover boot argument. MacOS is Mojave 10.14.6. In drivers folder besides the new MemoryFix.efi were ApfsDriverLoader, EmuVariableUefi.efi, HFSPlus, NTFS, and VirtualSmc efi files. There was no panic re-boot during shutdown.

(And it also allowed a successful boot with OpenCore (v0.0.4) on the Z390 Designare, despite the warning on above post that MemoryFix was only for Clover.)

***

EDIT: 8/8/19

It is now being reported (by mm2margaret) that the 'Clover Developers' simply re-named OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000 as MemoryFix. (Rather deceitful.)

I am therefore removing the download.

Back to AptioMemoryFix.

Does anyone have a PCI-e SATA adapter in a Designare slot? Do the adapter-attached disks show up in your BIOS Boot Menu? (Mine don't. But Mojave and Windows DO see and can access the adapter-attached disks.)

Well there's a pattern here!
  • Your motherboard has a Falcon Ridge Thunderbolt 2 controller on-board with two Thunderbolt 2 ports on the back panel.
  • Guess what? You have full Thunderbolt Local Node and Thunderbolt Bus as well!
  • So this suggests that for Falcon Ridge, macOS drivers are completely sufficient to enable full Thunderbolt capability.
  • Are you using a Thunderbolt SSDT right now? If so, please upload it. I am curious how ThunderboltDROM and pathcr got into your NHI device.
This shows you also have a full Thunderbolt device tree!

Any news on local node for target display mode n the z390 designare?

Yes that worked!! I forgot to check from the guide the section about final cut users! Thanks man you are the Best!!! :)
Another success story.... so happy!!!

Hi everyone
I've been following this thread for weeks now and have successfully built a similar system, albeit with a Radion VII GPU - A huge thank you to everyone involved!

Looking at my log files I can see the following errors, but I've been unable to figure out what's causing them. The build seems to work perfectly, but there must be something not quite right (unless the errors are quite normal)

Could one of you geniuses spare a few minutes and take a look for me?

Many many thanks
