[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

No way to drive, especially after I sold 1050Ti, I upgraded the system afterwards.
Please take a look at my ioreg.
Your laptop's Thunderbolt controller is attached to PCI0.RP05, which is the same as Designare Z390. So the Thunderbolt SSDT should work -- but you must also copy SSDT-DTPG.aml into the CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder.

These 2 files should be copied to CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder:
  • SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml
  • SSDT-DTPG.aml

As pointed out by CaseSJ and others, the 970 EVO Plus ought to work after the firmware upgrade (which I did). But still, perhaps you're right about the 970 EVO Plus messing it all up.

I've also cloned my hac to M2M, but same bouncing icons. Will try and clone to a SATA disk next. If that works the problem has to be with NVMe somewhere. Perhaps the system doesn't like having a 970 EVO and a 970 EVO Plus simultaneously. Also will remove M2M disk and see how that goes.
The plot thickens! So we might not be out of the woods yet with the Samsung EVO Plus. Please keep us updated. Others have reported success with the updated EVO Plus, so I wonder if you're right about using both the EVO (non-Plus) and EVO Plus together in the same system...

Not to sidetrack, but anyone have experience with Caldigit TS3 plus? Expensive but looks to have everything and support 2 x 4k monitors...
That's another good choice. All of these docks have a different complement of ports. Because I have a Raspberry Pi 3 and Rock Pi 4B (and soon will get the all-new Raspberry Pi 4 Model B), having a micro-SD card slot on the front of the OWC 14-Port Dock is very convenient. For my specific needs, the OWC Dock is perfect.

Because all of the Thunderbolt 3 dock are solid performers, the primary decision should be based on the complement of ports. And secondarily on the form factor -- for example, if desk space is restricted, a vertically oriented dock would work better.

Hi. This is very interesting!
Is it as simple as changing the "audio inject" from 16 to 7 and keeping "ResetHDA" checked?
Thanks
Yes it's just that simple! Please give it a try and let us know if you think Layout ID 7 works better...

I'm tempted to say that was a test to see if you knew the difference, but fact is, I didn't proof-read my reply!
  • Good to know that restart is working. Either of the EmuVariable EFI files is fine. MultiBeast installs EmuVariableUefi-64.efi.
  • Regarding sleep, the first thing to do is to perform the steps in the spoiler located herelabeled "Fixing Auto Sleep".
    • If that does not solve the problem, disconnect all USB devices including those connected inside the computer case. Keep only the mouse and keyboard connected. Then see if the computer sleeps and remains asleep.
    • If so, reconnect one USB device at a time and test sleep until you find the offending USB device that prevents sleep.
    • If this also does not solve the problem, let us know.
Hi that worked thanks.
I am now having random problems with bluetooth not connecting. I am using a BCM943602CS Combo wifi/bluetooth Card. Any suggestions appreciated please.

Hey.

1. WiFi: Success! I swapped the WiFi Card for an ASUS PCE-AC68 which is Plug and Play. Minus one problem.

2. GPU: I also throw in an Sapphire 580 Pulse but the problem persists. do i have to patch anything backwards since i set Platform ID to 0x3E980003 ?

3. Thunderbolt: Success! (thanks for the Firmware tip)

Thank you for your effort so far!
Regarding the animation problems you reported (no magnification in Dock, no menu bar highlighting, no tooltips):
  • Have you already checked that "magnification" is enabled in the Dock preferences page?
  • For tooltips and menu bar highlights, have you used a utility such as the old "Secrets" app that can perform deep customization? Or perhaps you used a command like this: defaults write -g NSInitialToolTipDelay -int 10000 (This will increase the delay to 10 seconds before a tooltip appears.)
Was this a fresh installation of Mojave? Or perhaps a hard drive from another Hackintosh was moved/cloned to this hardware?

Several suggestions regarding Bluetooth:
  • Try reorienting the Bluetooth antenna. If you have 3 or 4 antennas on the back of the PCIe card, which one belongs to Bluetooth? Fortunately, each antenna is labeled on the PCIe card itself. Bluetooth is usually the 3rd from the top, but it's best to read the labels.
  • Also try disconnecting the Bluetooth antenna and attaching the antenna that came with the Designare motherboard. That's a single relocatable antenna with 2 connectors. Just use either one of the connectors and move the antenna around until you get a stable signal.

Checked the Magnification settings.
Never used "secrets" and this command.

It was a fresh installation following your instructions on page 1.

Maybe a collision of some kext's

Since im working with DAW's its important to have all the options and highlighting on my cursor which are not present atm.

When i'm able to fix this, this would be my first successful build of an full-on hackintosh.

I have a problem with that card also -- try holding down 'Alt' when you look at Bluetooth preferences. If your Bluetooth signal strength is < -80, then it's probably a bad card (Mine is bad.) I think the quality control on those are pretty horrible (read the amazon reviews) -- I've purchased the Fenvi T919 card which seems much more reliable (and should arrive today...)

If you would like me to check your CLOVER configuration, please do this:
  • Compress and upload the CLOVER folder from EFI partition of Mojave SSD. You may remove serial numbers from SMBIOS section (but save those numbers).
  • Upload a screenshot of the /Library/Extensions folder.
And a couple of questions:
  • What is the make and model of your display monitor?
  • Are you using DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI? Any video adapters or straight HDMI-to-HDMI or DP-to-DP or DVI-to-DVI cable?
