Hello everyone, first time builder here and I could use some help. I've built my first CustoMac Pro but my screen is freezing when trying to boot up with my graphics card enabled.

Everything was working pretty well except my EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC was only showing 256mb of VRAM. I followed some of the suggestions on here and turned off the Nvidia Injection in Clover as well as Disabled onboard mobo graphics.

It appears my system is freezing up right when it would normally switch over to the right graphics/resolution on boot up. If I turn off the Nvidia Web Drivers in Clover it'll boot fine but won't utilize the graphics card. If I switch over to Nvidia Web Drivers in OS X and restart it freezes again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!View media item 189899

  • You may be able to fix the problem by Installing NVIDIA Webdriver for your Version of HS and editing CLOVER
  • Using the nv_disable=1 boot flag you stated and quoted above, boot and log into the system albeit with poor resolution.
  • Mount the EFI Partition of your System disk on the Desktop using Clover Configurator Vibrant (CCV) DOWNLOAD
  • Navigate EFI>EFI>CLOVER and Right click >Compress CLOVER and upload.
  • If you have not already installed NVIDIA Webdriver, do so.
  • Will check CLOVER and suggest what can be done.

You rock! Thank you so much

I forgot to mention that I do have a Nvidia web driver installed. The only one that would successfully install was 378.10.10.10.25.102 . For whatever reason the newest one wouldn't install saying I need to update my system to 10.13.2, even though I'm currently running 10.13.2.

  • I am uploading Screen shots of Edited CLOVER contents opened for view in CCV for you to try.
  • Using CCV duplicate changes suggested both in /CLOVER/kexts/Other and in config.plist and selected menus . Save edited config.plist as shown in green notations to keep and red to remove and try rebooting .

In the previous post I had uploaded the wrong CLOVER kexts Other . I have corrected the problem by adding here

Thank you again for all your help. I made all the updates you recommended and now my machine boots fine without hangups into High Sierra. Unfortunately, it still doesn't seem to be utilizing the graphics card. I'm running my video out from the card, but I can't switch over to the Nvidia web drivers. I choose it, and reboot, but it loads the same way each time. I'll attach a photo of my About This Mac as well as the updated Clover settings.

It's only showing "Display 5 MB" now under Graphics in About This Mac.
Try this :

Download the two kexts from:

  1. https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/lilu/downloads/RehabMan-Lilu-2017-1207.zip
  2. https://sourceforge.net/projects/nvidiagraphicsfixup/files/latest/download
  3. Try downloading and installing Nvidia Webdriver for installed HS ( check Apple>About This Mac> Over View >macOS High Sierra Version Number)
  • Download 1 & 2 above to Desktop , Unzip and copy to CLOVER/kexts/Other
  • Using "Kext wizard" Install them to System Library Extensions folder [see uploaded images of KW use for guidance]
  • Reboot and see if the problem has resolved

Alright, so I was able to put in those fixes. I completely uninstalled the Nvidia drivers I had on my system and re-downloaded.

My version of OS X is 10.13.2 (17C88). The build is for iMac, I believe.

The corresponding Nvidia driver is WebDriver-378.10.10.25.102.pkg.

It is re-installed on my computer. I can switch to the Webdrivers using the Preference pain plugging or the Nvidia Driver Manager Preference app which results in a reboot. When OSX relaunches I still don't have correct resolution or graphics support, and the Nvidia Driver Manager still shows "OS X Default Graphics Driver".
