[SOLVED] Can’t instal nvidia drivers after buying exactly the parts that were suggested

I noted . I don't know if you need that but just use it as is. What about ACPI?

I've changed ACPI as instructed, but still can't just boot from SSD's UEFI. I still have to boot from the USB.

The good news is that instead of getting stuck where I was getting stuck before, with all those errors, I can see the verbose logs go through all the way to the end, until I get on that loop with those two lines.

No, that's not what I mean.

I can reach CBM screen when I boot off the USB, but when I select the HS drive, I never reach the OS desktop. I get stuck in that cycle -- but only when I'm in IGFX and connected from motherboard's video to the monitor.

What's interesting is that if I switch the BIOS from IGFX back to PCIe Slot 1, and connect to the add-on graphics card, I have no problem booting from USB and selecting the HS and reaching the OS desktop.
That's interesting.
Keep trying and then you go and install from Multibeast the required Graphics support for your add on card NVIDIA. Make sure to check inside kexts/Other for lilu which it has but NvidiaGraphicsFix.kext also You should have installed NVIDIA web driver and in config.plist System Parameters [√]NvidiaWeb and Inject Kexts =Yes You should not inject Intel
I am logging off.
Sorry, my Grey matter says No more for 10 hrs!

Thanks a lot for your help.

I've recorded two videos, one with the [PCIe 1 Slot] enabled and [Integrated Graphics] set to Auto, and connected to the NVIDIA card, which actually now boots all the way to the macOS Desktop.

And another one with [IGFX] enabled and [Integrated Graphics] set to enabled as well, and connected to the motherboard's video port. That one doesn't load all the way. It gets stuck after the verbose logs end.

Perhaps you can check them out at some point when you log back in.

As for installing the NVIDIA web drivers, I will give it a try, but that is when things really really were breaking for me before.

I'll report the results and, if you check again, you can let me know what you think.

Thanks again.

I'm having the same issues with a GTX 1080. So far, I have tried all of the aforementioned, as well as a few other options, like re-installing Clover and just enabling the nvda_drv=1 during boot, no avail. Same exact error, and very similar specs (GTX 1080, Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 5 (rev 1.0), and an i7-6700K. If you don't want to continuously boot from the USB, or if you just want to reset the config.plist, you can run MultiBeast and do a basic install with the UEFI settings (in addition to Increase Max Port Limit).

On top of what ocazus has tried, I have also tried changing to different system definitions, as some people are having less issues with the MacPro5,1 definition (though it didn't help on my machine). I can provide more info if needed.

I've made this changes:

- Added NvidiaGraphicsFix.kext to kexts/Other
(Was I supposed to remove IntelGraphicsFix.kext? It's still there for now)
- Kept the [PCIe 1 Slot] option in BIOS, the [Integrated Graphics] option as AUTO which booted to macOS Desktop before
- Edited config.plist so _System Parameters > NvidiaWeb = ON
- Edited config.plist so _System Parameters > Inject Kexts = YES
- Edited config.plist so _Graphics > Inject Intel = OFF
(Was I supposed to set Inject Nvidia to ON? It's OFF for now)

Copy of config.plist attached.

After this changes I can still boot from SSD's UEFI all the way to macOS Desktop.

I'm going to try installing the GTX 1060 NVIDIA Drivers next. We'll see how that goes...

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

Finally I was able to boot reliably, and then install the NVIDIA drivers for High Sierra 10.13.1 and have it all worked as expected — and it's a beautiful thing!

I still don't know if Bluetooth or Audio work, because I don't have a bluetooth receiver or a speaker attached to this machine yet (I'll try tomorrow) but for now this is fantastic.

Thanks for your help. It really made a world of difference — I was completely lost (still kinda am)

So, if I wanted to do this all over again, with the same exact equipment, or if I had to start from scratch, what would be the best way to, say, save the current configuration and be able to re-install it without having to do the step by step thing all over again?

Regardless, I will be going back through the replies and trying to collect all the info in one centralized location, just in case.

Thanks again!

Okay, I got mine working. Not sure if I can help you in any way, but if you have any specific questions regarding what I did, please let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Actually, if you could upload your config.plist, I could copy the sections that are different between them and see if that works. Right now, it hangs with the loading circle on boot, but I think I know what is causing that
