Hey all,

I may have another tip for helping people boot into the installers, as it's pretty finnicky (to say the least) to boot into (I'm primarily directing this at OP poster).

See here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/dell-inspiron-15-7559-installer-issues.199339/page-4

TL;DR: If you're able to boot to three lines, and it stops booting at the line of +'s, make sure to also install 'SATA-100-series-unsupported.kext' if you haven't already! This fixed my problem that I was at all day working on ...

Cheers!

First time hackintosh installer, had troubles with linux distros on this nice laptop and in the end i gave up, guess the chip is too new and the kernel is not mature yet. i sticked with windows for a while, then i found this guide and boom, managed to get everything working on the first try, thanks to this very great guide (there are a few misses here and there, like on the part talking about the SMBIOS, there was no macbook 11,2, ended up using a macbook 9,2 and the machine didn't boot up, booting from the usb key fixed things and i setted in the SMBios a macbook PRO this time, guess that was the original thing to set). I must say, clover and things really makes hackintosh a lot easier than before, even with all the ACPI patching.

I haven't bought a broadcom wifi board, so right now i'm using my android cellphone in usb tethering with the hordis rel8pre2 driver installed, i'll manage.

Has anybody tried the sierra beta on this machine yet?

Happy that it worked!

You probably had a different version of Clover or pressed the wrong icon. Macbook Pro 11,2 was there when I installed.
I haven´t tried Sierra yet but I think it should work just about the same.

Note that most people report better results with MacBookPro11,1 vs. MacBookPro11,2.

Thanks. Is there a way to check which one is better? Everything seems to work fine for me except booting with HDMI connected.

It is just an observation... it is quite a common fix: people report problem, I ask for ioreg, it shows everything pretty good, but MacBookPro11,2 (not sure why it is so often chosen), I suggest to try MacBookPro11,1... problem fixed.
