If the system boots properly with the EFI that is on USB, then we can copy it to EFI partition of internal disk. We can address the sleep/wake issue later.

We can install the new NVMe into the 2nd slot or into an external USB enclosure. Then we use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the original SSD onto the new SSD.
