[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Works like a dream. Thank you yet again, Casey! The issue I was running in to before with either Apple logo on installation being without loadbar, or when you get error while preparing the installation drive in macOS installation. All was tied to a MASr lock that seem to didn't work on a first try. I advise to do it check it restart and check again. Mine was stil 0x1 even thoough, after unlock, I checked again, and it said 0x0.

Well after putting my Designare Z390 together with a i9-9900k, I included the following:
HyperX Predator Black 16GB 3333MHz DDR4 CL16 DIMM XMP Desktop PC Memory (HX433C16PB3/16) 4 x 16 - 64gb

MSI Radeon RX 580 DirectX 12 RX 580 ARMOR 8G OC 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

EKWB EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 RGB PWM (incl. sl. pump) Water / Liquid Cooling Pump w/ Integrated Reservoir (2)
EK-Velocity RGB - Nickel + Plexi

EK-HD PETG Tube 12/16mm 500mm/19.5"" (2 pcs) - EK-HD-PETG-TUBE-12-16-500. (4) - Total of 8

XPG GAMMIX SSD S11 Pro Series: 512GB Internal PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 (NVMe)

@oregon6305,

Welcome to the forum -- nice job. Because you have a 9900K and not a KS, did you follow the overclocking guide linked in Post 1? Is the system stable over long periods at 5GHz?

How's it going ya'll. I just wanted to thank CaseySJ again for the build guide and all the work that went into this. I'm currently facing an issue where my TB3 ports aren't seeing any usb 2.0 device plugged into them. Idk if this is normal behavior and should just invest in a dock or if I screwed something up.

I just have the standard TB3 instructions on the controller and haven't flashed the firmware at all.

That is normal. We’ve disabled USB 2 on all the USB-C ports in order to avoid exceeding the 15 port limit. I’ll add this note to the Catalina mini guide soon.

I followed the guide with a couple of tweaks ... and I run my Hackintosh all day long for day trading and its is SO STABLE ... once in a while I try to go into the BIOS on start up and it jumps to Clover but other than that it is Great !

After few hours, system freezes up. What could be the cause?

I've been getting random freezing on memory intensive tasks. Upgraded to Catalina 10.15.3 and all went well. But now I get freezing. I've been running memtests all day. Only got errors when running dual channel, isolated one bad stick. Ran again two times, no errors, still freezes. Lowered the clock to 2666, still freezes. Would trying get native NVRAM working help? BIOS is setup as per the guide, tried both XMP and manual settings. Tried a different mobo for tests, no errors.

G.Skill Trident 16GB 3600 x4.
